About this listen

There are few things people know about me.

I'm Scottish. I really hate pants. And Poodle is me best friend.

But. There are always buts. There is one thing people don't know. Me love for fightin'.

I come from a long line of fighters. I live it. I breathe it. Flesh. Blood. And brass knuckles. It's me way of life.

So I fight, legally. No one knows. I wanted to keep it a secret, but MC life exposes everyone's secrets.

One secret? There's a woman I have me eye on. A woman who's off-limits. She's an opponent's girl. A rival. An Irish bloke who comes from a powerful family.

He isn't abusive in just the ring, but to her, too. Bruises litter her beautiful face.

She doesn't give me the time of day. Until she is dumped on the side of the desert road.

She's mine now.

F--k her boyfriend's power. I'll kill him. For her.

Scottish MC Joe might be my new fave!!

Skirt by KL Savage was my first book by this author and it will not be my last! From beginning to end, I was completely captivated by the Ruthless Kings MC World. The story is intense, epic, dangerous and thrilling! Although the subject matter was dark at times I was impressed by the authors ability to bring laughter and humor in at the right times. After the loss of his brother, Skirt finds a home and a family amongst the Ruthless Kings MC Members. He is a fighter in a kilt and set on avenging his brother’s death.

Dawn has been emotionally and physically abused by her ex, Cohen. Cohen has taken her son and left her beaten and bruised and left for dead on the side of the road. From their first encounter Skirt is immediately drawn to her and doesn't leave her side! Their attraction and chemistry was STRONG right from the beginning. Despite all she has been through she is a fighter and will stop at nothing to get her son back.

Listening to this book in audio was INCREDIBLE! Right from the prologue I was captivated by Joe's voice. His Scottish brogue was perfection and his emotional delivery of his character was so well done. The way he transitions accents from Scottish to English and even Italian at one point! WOW!! Such incredible talent! Pippa Jayne's portrayal of Dawn's character blew me away as well. Her voice portrayed Dawn's fierce and determined nature fabulously. The two together were FANTASTIC bringing this story to life!

I’m a sucker for a Scottish accent

I’ve jumped around a little bit listening to this series, but when I saw Joe Arden was doing a Scottish accent, I immediately picked this one up. And it didn’t disappoint!

This is the perfect book for Skirt!!

I loved this book. It tells Skirts story and made me understand him more. Dawn’s story is awesome too and the way they come together as a family at the end blew me away. This book made me laugh and some parts and cry at some parts and that’s what makes an awesome story.
Joe Arden did a beautiful job with the Scottish accent. He’s the best male narrators out there.
Pippa did an amazing job also. She narrated the book with feeling and brought Dawn to life. This was my first book narrated by her I’ve listened to.
I know this series isn’t over yet and thank God for that!!!

I want a Scotsman in a kilt!

Holy Skirt! This is well written and perfectly narrated! If I did not have to work I would've read this book nonstop it was that wonderful!
Skirt has plans to avenge his brother but when someone crashes into his life and the past is revealed, love wins out over everything. Love conquers all.
Joe Arden won my heart with a most intriguing Scottish brogue, I believe it's the first time of hearing his heartfelt emotions exploding with a mixture of international flare (I think I remember a little Mexican accent in a different authors book). He has always brought out each and every character so pristinely and is able to tell each authors writings with his heart.
I warmed up to Pippa Jayne's voice, but it did take a bit. This was possibly my first book I have heard her narrate but in the end I fell in love and will search for others books narrated by her.

This book is undoubtedly worth the credit!
Well done K. L. Savage!

Epic, Intense Ride!!

Wow! Skirt by KL Savages was an intense, epic, thrill ride. Narrated by Joe Arden and Pippa Jayne. This story did not disappoint and had me hooked from the start.

This is book 5 in the Ruthless Kings MC series. I honestly hadn't ready or listened to any of them, but one of great book friends recommended, plus I love anything that Joe Arden narrates. Skirt and Dawn have a quick whirlwind of a romance to say the least. Skirt find Dawn on the side of the road desperately needing to get back to her son. Skirt finds himself drawn to Dawn and knows instantly that he will help Dawn with anything. However, when Skirt pieces key pieces of the puzzle together, he knows he will do anything achieve vengeance from leave his past behind.

Joe Arden and Pippa Jayne are amazing in this book . I hadn't listened to Pippa much before, and her portrayal of Dawn's determination was on point! Joe Arden's Scottish accent was EPIC! I had heard it before in other books, but his ability to hold it and convey it through the whole book really helped present Skirt as an unbelievably daring and powerful character! His ability to switch back and forth to so many other accents in this book, shows how talented he is!

Overall I loved everything about this book. The story was captivating, and I loved all the rich histories with each character. This may have been my first K.L. Savage read/ listen, but it will not be my last!

Perfect blend of macho and funny, loved it!

I only wish the book was longer! There were only a few funny parts but they fit in so seamlessly and were perfect for a laugh. Skirt is my new favorite. And listening to it...well...it made it that much better. Excellent performance! Great accents!

Scottish accent for the win

Joe Ardens narration of Skirt, the Scottish fighter in a Vegas MC was fantastic. He nailed the accent. Pippa Jayne also pulls you in as Dawn, an abused woman who’s son has been taken.
This story has a lot, loss of family, children in peril, first love. It comes together in a satisfying conclusion with some twists and turns recommended listen.

Wonderful!

K.L. Savage has an amazing talent of writing strong characters. Dawn is a certified bada** who is taking names. Skirt has only been in the MC for a few years. A redhead Scot who loves pie and keeping things light. Like the other members, he has a dark past that haunts him. When he stumbles on Dawn who was abused and dumped in the desert, he instantly becomes protective her. Dawn's son was taken from her by her abusive ex and the MC steps into find him.

I loved Skirt. He's a kind and gentle soul but has no problem using his brass knuckles when need be. The little tidbit that we get of him made love him ever more. Dawn is a bada** and a surprise to with the adventurous things she likes. And she isn't afraid to stand up to anyone either. These two are a perfect match. The last few chapters and epilogue had me tearing up.

Joe Arden's Scottish accent was PERFECTION. Joe is my favorite male narrator and his accent was spot on. A Scottish accent is VERY hard to do and he flawlessly went back and forth between accents when the story called for it. Pippa Jayne is a new narrator for me and she did great as well. In Dawn's chapters when she would have to do a male Scottish accent, that could not have been easy. Her range was great.

👍🏽Good story. 👎🏽GRAPHIC verbal/physical/sexual

🎙Narration (audible) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

🔥 Pippa Jayne has such a unique and sweet voice, and her work is always a treat. And, Joe Arden always nails it. ALL the stars  for these two pairing up! The audible performance was EXCELLENT.

📚 STORY

First time reading this author. Gave it a shot bc I'm such a fan of Pippa Jayne's performances. At its core, it was a good story, and I enjoyed the writing.

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️
For my taste, though, the drawn out and detailed partner violence and assault (physical, sexual, and verbal) scenes were just too much. I'm really surprised there were no trigger warnings (maybe I missed them?). Of course, I expected some trauma detail given the audible/ Kindle book description but such repeated graphic physical, sexual, and verbal assault? No thanks. Personally, I think it was beyond the threshold of what added value to the story which at its core was a really good and sweet one of hope and redemption.

Granted, I'm unfamiliar with the author and MC books are not my favorite trope so maybe this is standard?  I feel ambivalent about reading any other KL Savage books if they all contain such graphic assault against women.
