Acerca de esta escucha

Tens of millions of Americans owe a combined $1.5 trillion in debt for student loans. Much of this staggering expense has been unnecessary. Attending college is more of a tradition - a cultural rite of passage - than a necessary step toward a successful career, thus not justifying its steep cost.

As countless entrepreneurs and creative hustlers have shown, there is a path to success outside institutions of so-called higher learning. Allow us to show you the way.

Filled with practical advice and action steps for teenagers and young adults, Skip College is a must-listen for those looking to launch their career.

Great content, horrible choice in narrator who seemed to have zero interest in the content. I would love to hear the author read this as his tone and delivery may help convey more of the he intended message.

Interesting perspective, wrong narrator

I enjoyed the content of this book. Connor Boyack brought together a great group of perspectives on education. But, The narrator was not the voice for this book. I really like the subject matter but I had relisten to a few chapters I lost attention a few times because of it. Overall I liked the book enough to listen through the whole thing a couple of times. This book is a great idea to have kids read before they decide if they go the college route or not.

Great Book; hard to listen to.

as a self-employee and mother of 2 teenaged boys I found this book a reinforecement of I'd like for my boys. Great beginning to start with. I highly recommend it.

Enjoy it very much

I read this as a 42 year old mom of teens and appreciated it not only for guiding my teens but for myself! Well written and full of valuable info presented in a way that kept me reading. Loved it!!

Insightful and confirming!!

I listened to this book because I'm on the fence about weather or not to plan for our kids college. I agree with a lot of the points in this book and will take them into consideration. o think it's worth listening/ reading in order to make the best decision possible. I would gift it to high school graduates and parents for sure.

Makes several solid points, great book!

Most of the essays are excellent, nuanced looks at the student's current situation, and meets the target audience where they are. However, the reader's tone did not quite match the gravity of much of the content. Her voice befits a reading to elementary-aged kids, but not to educators or the types of students who would be listening to this book.

Engaging Material, Lackluster Reader

It keeps talking about the oppression of conservative thought. It reads mostly as a complaint letter from a closed minded individual.

Biased

The advice about how blue collar jobs are worthy of dignity is all good. However the hero worship of Jordan Peterson and Ann Coutler nearly had me wondering if this was the point -- hiding a screed promoting people who are controversial now and whom I believe history will not treat kindly was distracting to the message.

Painfully off topic at times

So this book did give some interesting perspectives on college, and there’s a lot that I agree with. However, based on the title, I assumed it was going to be a little more instructional as far as ideas and opportunities outside of going to college. There are several chapters that were just articles written by other people that were abstract, and didn’t seem to have a lot to do with the book itself. Most of what seem to be recommendations as far as directions to go outside of college we’re focused specifically on social media, blogging, Amazon, store fronts in similar fields. It seems as though the author had great success in those areas and was pushing the reader specifically that way, as opposed to offering an array of different options And directions to go in opposition to college. So if you’re big into social media or want to start an Amazon storefront, then maybe this is the book for you.

Not what I was expecting
