Publisher's summary

Beauty. Wealth. Success.

She’s got it all.

And it all should’ve been mine.

When Eleanor Hardwicke’s beloved father dies, her world is further shattered by a gut-wrenching secret: The man she’s grieving isn’t really her dad. Eleanor was the product of an affair, and her biological father is still out there, living blissfully with the family he chose. With her personal life spiraling, a desperate Eleanor seeks him out, leading her to uncover another branch on her family tree - an infuriatingly enviable half-sister.

Perfectly perfect Victoria has everything Eleanor could ever dream of. Loving childhood, luxury home, devoted husband. All of it stolen from Eleanor, who plans to take it back. After all, good sisters are supposed to share. And quiet little Eleanor has been waiting far too long for her turn to play.

Great Read

Sister Dear was a great read by Hannah Mary McKinnon. Eleanor was very close to her father and her earth was shattered when he died. But she finds out that the man she thought was her father really isn't. She finds out that her mother had an affair and she was the product of that affair. Eleanor is desperate to uncover this different branch of her family tree. She finds out that she has a half sister who she is envious of. She has everything Eleanor wants; a loving childhood, devoted husband, and luxury home. Eleanor is ready to take all of this back, no matter who it hurts. I really enjoyed this book and didn’t expect all the twists and turns. I cant wait to read more by Hannah Mary McKinnon.

Good story line

I struggled to get used to the narrator.. her voice was not easy to listen to. That aside it was a great plot .. with a final twist that only emerged in the last chapter…

Horrible Ending

I wanted to throw my honey on finishing this book. It had no redeeming features and a very bad ending.

Mediocre

I admit that I'm not a fan of the author's rather wordy writing style, which makes for a slower pace. The storyline did engage me, and I stayed engaged till the conclusion. However, I hated the way things turned out--the ending stretched my ability to suspend disbelieve beyond the breaking point. Overall rating: 2.5 stars round up

Disappointing

I have enjoyed Hannah Mary McKinnon’s books in the past but this one dragged on for far too long. The main character was so stupid in so many ways and really made me not feel sorry for her in the end. I only finished the book because I was already invested. Definitely not my favorite.

Wow, what an ending!

I hated the way Eleanor was strung along, but she left herself wide open for it.

Oh why did I read this??

Ok, so the book was well written, but all through it I was waiting for the protagonist to get a break. Nope. Also did not love the reader. But life is too depressing to ever read another book by her

Narration could have been better

Hated the ending. The story was good but I felt that the ending flattened in my opinion.

Predictable and disappointing

Eleanor’s actions throughout the book were always predictable because you knew she would choose the wrong path. I don’t have to have a completely happy ending but I don’t like when evil wins entirely. The ending left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I will not be reading any other books by this author.
