Publisher's summary

Our obsession with bigger and faster is spinning us out of control. We move through the week breathless and bustling, just trying to keep up while longing to slow down. But real life happens in the small moments, the kind we find on Tuesday, the most ordinary day of the week.

In Simply Tuesday, Emily P. Freeman helps listeners:

  • Stop dreading small beginnings and embrace today's work
  • Find contentment in the now - even when the now is frustrating or discouraging
  • Replace competition with compassion
  • Learn to breathe in a breathless world

Jesus lived small moments well, slow moments fully, and all moments free. He lives with us still, on all our ordinary days, creating and redeeming the world both in us and through us, one small moment at a time. It's time to take back Tuesday, to release our obsession with building a life, and believe in the life Christ is building in us - every day.

The power of being small

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book really changed my outlook on life! In a world that's obsessed with being more, doing more, and having more, Simply Tuesday asks the reader if more is really going to make us happy. Hint: it won't.

This book isn't about lecturing you on needing to downsize or become a minimalist. It's about relishing the small things, and realizing that one can make an impact while not being super famous or uber successful. She gives a great example of the negative effects of fame and when I listened to that part, it made me re-evaluate how I market my services as an entrepreneur. I decided that I wanted to go the 'less is more' route and totally changed my marketing approach and began focusing on doing what matters most to me.

I enjoyed Simply Tuesday so much that I ordered a hard copy of the book and have already listened to the audiobook twice!

encouragement for type A dreamers

I find myself constantly trying to strike a balance between my goal-oriented, achievement focused, type A self.. and my desire to be fully present in my daily life, appreciating the gifts of my life, and loving on the people I care about the most. Once again, Emily seems to be right where I am with the questions, and instead of trying to say she has it all figured out, she sits beside me and helps me sort through all those thoughts and inner conflict through a Biblical perspective. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by someone else, but will definitely need a paper copy to read through again and again.

Mediocre but sweet

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I need to explain something. I had heard of this book and it sounded good when I read the information on it, but I didn't really know what it was going to be about. I think it was okay and there isn't really anything to change because it is the author's experiences, and that is what matters.

Would you be willing to try another book from Emily P. Freeman? Why or why not?

I guess I might depending on what it is about. She is a sweet lady and I like her.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I feel like the narrator was a bit dull. She reminded me of the navigation for my phone.

Was Simply Tuesday worth the listening time?

It was. I feel like it helped my day get better and made me smile sometimes. It was inspirational and definitely helped draw me towards God in a better way on the days that I listened to it.

Enjoy, fellow introverts

I loved it - as an introvert myself I could relate to the author and appreciate her strengths and weaknesses. I think her insight on appreciating small things and the importance of everyday tasks was great :)

One inch off the ground

This is a great read. A gentle reminder that small and slow are not negative but a sign of our humanity. As a homeschooling mom this book was a pleasure to listen to and at points have me permission to think small and move slow but with purpose. I throughly enjoyed the book and the performance.

Horrible narration

The book itself is fine, but the narration is awful. The narrator sounded like an online dictionary perfectly pronouncing each syllable. Her voice was devoid of emotion or feeling. I just couldn't listen to this book and ended up buying the hard copy for my book club.

The narrator sounds like Moira

The narrator sounds like she has a fake - invented accent like the one “Moira” puts on in the show Schittz Creek LOL. It’s sort of hard to get past... but I love the content of the book!

I couldn't get past the narrator's voice...

To be honest, I haven't finished the book, so my 5 star rating of the story is me giving some credit to the author. I'm about an hour into the audio and the narrator's pronunciation of many words is distracting. I'm not sure how to describe other than that it reminds me of Meg Ryan's redhead character in Joe vs. The Volcano. Just odd. I may eventually just buy the Kindle copy so I can actually gain the knowledge from the author. The lesson learned is I will ALWAYS listen to the sample of the recording before buying.

Amazing! Just what I needed!

God spoke to my soul so powerfully through this book. Emily is so gifted in explaining what I feel is true but don't know how to put it into words. You will love it!

Couldn't get past narrator

I really wanted to enjoy this audiobook, but I couldn't get past the voice of the narrator. It's airy and feels overdone. I tried to start the book several times, but never finished the first chapter because I found it so grating.
