About this listen

Don’t look out your window—because you might not like what you see…

Simone

I can’t escape him.

I thought I did. When I slipped off one night, leaving everything in my old life behind, I was ready to sacrifice it all if only to leave him behind, too.

But, like always, my ex chases after me. That’s what he does, after all. Holding to the vows I was too young and naive to understand, William Burke will have me ’til death do us part.

And then, almost immediately, it does—when Will is slaughtered in a back alley.

He haunts my dreams. Stars in my nightmares. I see him everywhere, hear his voice in my head. I look out my window and he’s there. Even dead, I can’t escape him…

And that’s when I look out my window and realize that it isn’t Will watching me from the shadows.

It’s another man. A stranger.

A silhouette.

And a killer.

Because he’s not just watching me. He wants me more than Will did… enough that he’ll kill for me.

Stalk me.

Take me.

And I kind of want him to...

Jake

They say the third time’s the charm—and whoever they are, they better be right.

I lost Casey. Heather… that was a tragedy.

And now I want Simone.

I refuse to give up on Simone.

So she wears another man’s ring. He torments her, and she’s in need of a hero.

I can be that for her—I can be anything for her—but when she doesn’t seem quite that impressed with my gift, I realize I need to get to know my sweet vixen a little better before I make her mine.

And that’s exactly what I do. From infiltrating her life to sneaking into her house, I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere... and she can't escape me.

More importantly, by the time I've done everything I can to convince her there's no one better for her than me, she won't want to...

The Narrator or The Watcher?

Good story - quick read/listen with a little twist at the end. But WHAT is up with the narrator :( I could not get over his constant “giggling.” Didn’t do it for me and made it so hard to get through. The only thing that saved it was it was a good story with no plot holes for a novella.

Eye rollingly cringy

I want to preface this by saying If you’re going to read this, do it with a physical copy or ebook.

The only thing that saved this book was the ending. The beginning and middle is filled with bad and cringy dialog. With very little relationship building. The book is overly repetitive and recaps things that literally just happened. It was like the author was trying to hit a certain word court, and instead of building on the story just recaps what happened two chapters back.

Now on to the narrators. The female narrator did a good job. I felt she had decent inflection and tone. The male narrator was too over the top. The constant giggling (which felt like every 30 seconds) got old real fast. And, while I can see the MMC being a little over dramatic, this narrator made it unbearable. I didn’t like the MMC at all and I’m not sure if it is the writing or the narrator.

the guy narrating this audible is horrible

the girl, wasnt bad in the audible at all. could use more emphasis on things like how someone would say something, instead of sounding bored sometimes.

the guys reading Jake. oh my goodness I DNFd the audible because I just couldn't take it after a couple of chapters. it's like this guy is a complete robot that is trying to portray a sarcastoc stalker kind of thing. but it's like he reads 2 words, pauses, reads 1 or 2 more, pauses. ITS SO ANNOYING!!!!! I would never suggest this audible version for this book.
sorry.
