Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Gordon Korman’s Swindle, the first novel featuring 12-year-old Griffin “Man with the Plan” Bing, was praised as a “must-have for middle school libraries” (Children’s Literature).

Showoff, the fourth book in the series, finds Griffin hatching a new plan after his friend’s pet Doberman, Luthor, is blamed for ruining a dog show and lands in the pound. Now, to spring Luthor, Griffin and his friends must pull off a scheme involving a large international dog show, lots of red dye, and the help of a reclusive former dog trainer.

This was by far the funniest one, Ben killed multiple times with the stuff he said. Loved it

While it’s not a the most intense or dramatic installment, this is more funny and heartfelt than the rest. It really showed how much Griffin cares about his friends. Not that he never showed it before, but it’s more prominent here. His love for Luther, and for doing the right thing was beautiful. I really enjoyed this one, and while I still like Framed more, this was still very enjoyable. Gordon is still running full speed, and hasn’t lost his edge

A great audiobook for kiddos

Would you listen to Showoff again? Why?

My almost 6-year-old loves this book, and my almost-4-year-old enjoys it, too, although there are a couple of parts that my younger son finds a little scary.

What other book might you compare Showoff to and why?

Nuts to You has the same scrappy band of young'uns (except they're squirrels!)

Which scene was your favorite?

6yo: My favorite one is... hm... when they see the wrecked-up garage. Cuz it's all messy, it was destroyed by Luther, and so were some prototypes. Also when they take Luther to the beach and a wave sweeps over him but he's still perfectly stacked. And the guy was amazed because Luther hated going through the car wash, and then Dmitri said, "Perhaps that's because a dog is not a truck." (laughs)
