Publisher's summary

Her mother called it a gift. But for Caitlyn O’Connell, the voices in her head are a curse, dooming her career, her marriage, and her sobriety. Now the former cop scrapes by as a private investigator, counting down the minutes until happy hour. But when her sexy former partner (and estranged ex-husband) appeals to her for help with a bizarre murder case, Cait can’t say no - to the crime or the man.

The last thing Detective Sam Pierce wants is to revisit the past. But the very secret that doomed his marriage to Cait may be the key to cracking this case. Something sinister - and decidedly not human - is terrorizing Memphis, leaving a trail of clues only Cait can decipher. Together she and Sam will venture into a dark world of magic and terror, lured to the brink of reality as they know it - and back into the thrall of their steamy past.

sexy , steamy, Sam

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, but I buy as much of natalie ross recordings as I can. This is fast pace for a paranormal book. Our hero is just so on for a core romance book. This is not mushy, but if you do not like steamy, then this is not for you.

What other book might you compare Shattered Souls to and why?

Cherie Priest 2 books that N. Ross reads. This has more steamy scenes .

What about Natalie Ross’s performance did you like?

Hero voice is always spot on. Hunky as all get out. Ms Ross can do the inner voice of our heroine so well, witty. This is Ms. Ross best type of reads. Next to the late Anna Fields, Ms Ross has the best male sexy voice. Then comes Ms Gabra Zackman.

I can only hope Mis Delilah Devlin has more books of this fast pace and steamy reads.
Ms Ross brings out the best in this read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

yes, when Sam, realizes he did not even know his ex wife.

Any additional comments?

At first i had trouble getting into the story but it picked up and i enjoyed the book in the end. A descent start to this series and i will be looking forward to more books as they are released to audio. Narrator done a great job. I love the male voices. :)

Whoa! Nellie

Read this book & you might loose your soul or at least you won't be in Kansas anymore. Not treating her like a lady? not to worry this heroine will give you a treatment you won't want to forget. I kept hitting the 30 second replay throughout thinking, did I just hear what I think I Heard. Also, while listening in public & someone happened to look at me I wondered if I may have been blushing. Any teen putting this book on their wish list should get a good spanking. leave it to us shattered adults to contemplate all things grown up, under a cold shower of course. If your close minded forget it, unless your standing on a high bridge holding on to the rail while listening to this book & wondering if you should let go before the carnal beast in you starts howling.

Urban Fantasy with a Paranormal Twist

Shattered Souls is dark and mysterious, with chilling paranormal elements, a hot romance, and unforgettable emotion. This book is both urban fantasy and a paranormal mystery spiced with some dark Southern magic. The heroine, Cait, is a fresh voice in urban heroines, a sassy, flawed woman with a heartbreaking secret. Her ex is the kind of alpha guy Cait alternately hates and loves, but the reader can only love him. The pace is fast, but emotional twists will grab you by the throat when you least expect it. Cait is tough enough, but her problems are real. Hang on for a fast-paced ride through Memphis and the occult.
Natalie Ross bought the story to life with her fantastic narration. Can't wait to listen to the next installment.

Expected more SUBSTANCE, less STEAM

From the blurb, I expected some romance, but expected the base of the story to be mystery with fantasy elements. Instead, this seemed more like a romance with a
dash of mystery and a pinch of fantasy thrown in. The sex scenes were very graphic and sometimes rather gratutious. The narrator did a decent job, but some of the male voices were a bit campy. Those who love their romantic fantasies/mysteries steamy may enjoy this volume.

If you are looking for a well-plotted mystery, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Sexy, scary, fabulousness!

Where has this GEM been all my life? I have to say that I gave it a skip initially because of the book covers (which came across as a bit YA to my eye). I couldn't have been more wrong! This is a sexy, scary monster story of the highest order! Reading the description is just like looking at the cover - - it does not do the story justice. Hot sexy characters, really scary supernatural situations and a fantastic back story kept me listening late into the night.

How would you function if you could see, hear and feel what no one else could? Would you try and convince them for a while, or just stop trying when they call you crazy? How far would you go to 'turn it off?'

Love this one! Where's numbers 3, 4, 5, -- 12? Write faster please!

And Natalie Ross is one of my favorite readers. She's fantastic here.

(That 3.5 rating must be a fluke, cause this book is awesome. It deserves so much more!)

Also, I recently read "Blood Lust Rising" by Fayth Devlin because of the reviews, and I loved it. This is just as good. Pulled me right back into the genre!!!

3 1/2 Stars.. Not quite a 4 star read..

I started this book several days ago then stopped and read 2 or 3 others. I just couldn’t get into it. But it turned out to be an OK book. I read a lot of paranormals but I’ve never read about wraiths and I find I’m not that crazy about them. I’ve got Lost Souls but I’m not sure I’ll read it.

I did like the other players: Jason, Celeste, Morin and Leland, and I’m sure they’ll be in the next book, so there is that. I’m sure Leland will have new teeth, too, since Cait knocked all his front ones out.

It was an exciting battle Cait had inside the mirror and interesting how she carried each girl out before the REAL battle started, and ended.

Cait and Sam were a nice couple but I’m also not crazy about the heroine getting drunk every night and NEEDING a drink all the time, even when she woke up in the morning. That’s kind of depressing. I’m just worried about the next book focusing on Cait’s alcoholism instead of a story.

Anyway, there was no sexual tension but Cait and Sam had explicit sex 5 or 6 times so if that’s too much sex for you then forget this book, because it was described every single time. Also, there was swearing and the F-bomb was released 35 times.

As to the narrator: Hmmm.. I’m not sure how I felt about her. She read with a little emotion and the men’s voices were OK but there was just something… Maybe it was the tone of the men’s voices, the monotone of every man speaking. She wasn’t horrible but she wasn’t that great either.
