Publisher's summary

She sees the future. He sees right through her.

Agent Alex Kane uses her visions of the future to save people in her job at the Grey Raven Paranormal Agency. Lives depend on her. Emotion is a weakness she can't afford.

In order to stop her latest horrific vision from coming true, she has to team up with a new partner—James Emerson, Empath. James can see straight through Alex's icy exterior to the intense, broken person beneath. The nature of his talent makes people—Alex especially—uncomfortable around him, and he's had to push people away in order to do his job.

They are thrown together on a mission to prevent a catastrophic event. But Alex's visions of their future together—a future she wants to prevent at all costs—make it hard to maintain professional distance.

Together, they must navigate political intrigue, danger, and their own complicated relationship to avert an international disaster before time runs out. Fans of Ilona Andrews's Hidden Legacy series and Annette Marie's Guild Codex will love this fast-paced enemies-to-lovers Urban Fantasy Romance you won't want to put down!

Good story and performance

A little too sappy at times, but I really did like the story and the characters

Fast paced romance with intriguing world building

Great start to a series- definitely want to get to know more of the characters and looking forward to seeing where the author takes this world- but is also a satisfying standalone story in and of itself.
The Talent pulls in the sense of otherness, the agency a sense of community building, and in Alex a reminder that sometimes we are our own worst critics and we need to figure out how to get out of our own way in order to find happiness.
The tone from the narrator evens out after the first couple of chapters and does a good job of dealing with a story with a lot of internal monologue.

Not great but not the worst.

Performance was clear but had same peppy cadence and feeling no matter what was happening in the scene.
The story was predictable and I found Alex very immature in the way she avoided emotion. Possibly would have helped to have a different narrator but not sure.
