About this listen

Shadows Rising is a fictional story set in a post-apocalyptic world. It is book 1 in a series of indeterminate length. If you're lucky enough to survive the first wave, the book is dotted with real world survival tips to help you thrive after the apocalypse hits. If you're a prepper/survivalist you'll want to add this book to your library.

The only constant is change. Master Gunnery Sergeant Albert "Mack" MacLaughlin couldn't agree more. His life changed many times over the years before he watched the Earth change after a devastating attack by an unseen enemy. Left to wander through a post-apocalyptic world, Mack had no problem helping others end their miserable existence. Until one day, he was called to travel west, by whom or by what he had no idea. His life was about to change again.

Post Apocalyptic Prepper Book with some Sci Fi

Phenomenal story and great performance. The book follows a retired Force Recon Master Gunnery Sergeant called "Mac" as he tries to cope with the end of the world as we know it. During his wandering, he ends up protecting and teaching a young girl who becomes his protege. The book combines great tradecraft and preparedness concepts along with rich characters. Unlike so many other "prepper" books, the author adds some science fiction tie-in which gives the book a nice angle, keeping it distinct from most other books in the post-apocalyptic / preparedness genre. The author definitely writes with a jarhead's gallows humor and seems to have that "we know a thing a two because we've seen a thing or two" believability. Shadows Rising is a fun book that will teach the reader many little nuggets while taking them on a great journey. Can't recommend this book enough. The narrator does a great job with the right tone for the main character, without overdoing it. The voice actor definitely does a great job. Easily worth a credit and a listen.
