Wow!

From beginning to the end a wonderful hypnotic experience. pleasurably mysterious, intriguing and unique. The author has woven a tale with twists and turns with just the right amount of anguish and exhilaration that only can be wrought by a masterful storyteller. Bravo Razevich. Also the narration was absolutely perfect, inflections, voicings and warmth.

Shadowline drift

I wasn't crazy for this book. It could have been so much better. I will try this author again with another story.

Wonderfully Unlike Anything Else

Would you listen to Shadowline Drift again? Why?

Yes. This is a densely compact story, in the best possible sense. For me, it will be well worth listening to again, over time. But that, of course, is a highly individual matter. I found it riveting and delightful from beginning to end.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shadowline Drift?

Spoiler questions show complete disrespect for the otherwise delightful process of discovering a new work. I have refused to buy several very attractive books because main plot lines were given away right here. These kinds of questions can very easily ruin the listening experience for others before it even starts.

What about Joel Froomkin’s performance did you like?

His unusual natural style perfectly complements the different, and equally original style of Alexes Razevich. I loved this book, and his highly intelligent narration brightly illuminates its subtle little treasures. I will say, at times the otherwise exhilarating speed of his reading could be slowed a bit, with good results. I'm not taking a star away for this though. Overall it was so enjoyable I didn't mind the few places I had to replay a passage.

His voice is warm, clever, and assured. And he fully inhabits this work, which is equally warm, clever and assured.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Hard to believe, but I have to ask: why is the exact same spoiler question asked here twice?

I love trying to write helpful reviews for authors and narrators whose very hard work and professional expertise create so many hours of enjoyment for us.
But the "new and improved" (dumbed down) review format is annoying. To write a reasonably thoughtful review- without being herded through ill-conceived boxes- it is now necessary to post book reviews on Amazon instead. The problem is, those of us who prefer audiobooks would much rather review them here.

Any additional comments?

Hardened and experienced consumers of science fiction become ever more difficult to surprise or impress. That is only natural, since the underlying sameness of so many books in any popular genre eventually ceases to be interesting. In this context, the mind of the author of Shadowline Drift is like a new, fascinating, and beautiful animal- never before encountered. And I enjoy finding literate originality in science fiction more than anything else. So without a doubt, this will be remain high on my list of favorite Audible productions.
All you need for the outline of the story is the general description: it is just fine.

A Really Stupid Book

Wish I could return for credit! What a waste of time! Badly written, naive and predictable plot. Won't trust "Recommendations" ever again.
