A fun read

I loved this book. I'm not a teenager and didn't know it was aimed at that age group when I downloaded it. But I was engaged from the first paragraph. The narrator is perfect for the character Suze. I'm actually going to get the rest of these because I enjoyed the first one so much. Guilty pleasures I guess.

my favorite book from high-school

I read the first 2 books in high school and never forgot about them so I thought to listen to them all now that winter is around.

Exciting, funny and perfectly told!

Unsurprisingly, the narrator went above and beyond in bringing this great series to life. Each character was voiced distinctly and very much close to how I imagined them to sound like. I loved it all and hope that the 5th book 'Haunted' will finally be recorded by Johanna as I am having withdrawals!

Great youth novel from the 90's

It brings me back to the decade of Ghost whisperer and high school in the mid nineties. Great theme. Good characters. Who doesn't love a fun ghost story? Not intensely scary but that's good with kids listening in. I love reading this series over the October season along with some good classics.

Great Series

I've loved this book for many many moons. I used to borrow them from the library as often as I could. The story is fantastic, but the performance isn't great. Nothing like how Suze should sound, she sounds southern not from New York and she has a weird 1930's trans Atlantic vibe. Its sadly really distracting, and the cadence is off so many times, she puts the emphasis on the wrong words. Usually I can look past a poor performance, but not this time unfortunately. I'll probably just have to borrow them from the library again like when I was in high school to experience this series again. I'll be returning this one.

I've always loved these books!

So glad the narrator was well read for this! These books have been a favorite of mine since HS and I'm so happy to get back into them through audiobooks!

A Delight

What a delightful story. I know this is a teen/YA story but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A decent platform for the start of a new series. Starting with a new blended family, a new school and friends. Suze is a strong character that is kind hearted and wise. She knows what it feels like to be an outsider and refuses to exclude anyone because they are different. Wish more teens would read stories like these, there are definite lessons to be learned.
Johanna Parker did a wonderful job narrating but then she is the reader for the Sookie Stackhouse novels. :)

This works for adults

I saw the review by someone that stated this was not a book for adults and con not disagree more. It my be a little cute at times but the story was good and the writer has put enought depth to make it work for grown people. Maybe it is because I so have teenage kids but I very much enjoyed the book and the serries.

The narrator has an inexplicably southern accent

The book is good. And the narrator mostly does a good job when she remembers to hide her southern "Georgia Peach" accent, It's very out of place considering the main character moves from Brooklyn to California.
