About this listen

When Wes Montana's Arapaho mother is murdered‚ the hired gun discovers his white father, Ray Eastman‚ who had abandoned them before Wes was born‚ is still alive‚ wealthy with family‚ and may have ordered her death. Swearing vengeance on his own father‚ Wes yet finds himself on his father's side in the middle of a range war fueled by Eastman's unfaithful wife. Wes likes his half brother but is afraid of Rosalie‚ a beautiful Irish orphan‚ even as the war explodes in a fight to survive against all odds before the truth is known. Shadow on the Mesa follows the fight for survival as bad men outnumber the good and Wes Montana's thirst for vengeance against his own father takes an unexpected turn.

Good Western

If you could sum up Shadow on the Mesa in three words, what would they be?

A Son's Revenge

What did you like best about this story?

The complete story. I saw the movie with Wes Brown as Wes Rowlands, bounty hunter; in this audiobook his name is Wes Montana, a gun for hire. Wes Montana is a half-breed whose Indian mother is murdered. Because of his mixed blood and prejudices Montana became the fastest gun in the west in self defense. When his mother is murdered he swears vengeance upon her killers. This story is about Montana's journey in his quest for justice - revenge.

Have you listened to any of Gene Engene’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He performed well in all the books I've listened to with him as narrator. I like his narrations, but I did not like the voice he gave Wes Montana.

Who was the most memorable character of Shadow on the Mesa and why?

Wes Montana. It's his story. His life as a half-breed and as a fast gun. His quest to extract vengeance on his mother's murderers, even if it is his father.

SHADOW ON THE MESA

This book is a very good western. Wes Montana is half Indian and his mother has been killed. He finds out about a father he never knew was alive. He goes to confront him and find out if he has anything to do with his mother being killed. He rides into a range war. This book is so good. I was one hundred percent wrapped up in the last half. A lot is going on. The range war between the two ranchers both wanting all the land. Wes finding out about his family he never knew is my favorite part. Seeing how they welcome him kept me listening. I will listen to this again. Gene Engene does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.
