About this listen

In this complex tale of greed and revenge, best-selling author Michael McGarrity shrewdly blends riveting action with magnificent southwestern scenery. Serpent Gate portrays former Santa Fe policeman Kevin Kerney in a perilous struggle against corrupt officers, New Mexico politicians, and a deadly enemy from the past. Recruited for the State police by the new chief, Kerney searches the mountainous countryside for a patrolman’s killer. Quickly solving the months-old murder, he takes on a more challenging assignment: recover the priceless art collection stolen from the governor’s office. As Kerney pursues the mastermind behind the theft, he finds himself returning to the violent roots of his first case.

Michael McGarrity, a former police officer for Santa Fe County, draws on his own experience to create plots packed with nonstop excitement and believable predicaments. Narrator George Guidall’s stellar performance will hold you spellbound from the intriguing opening to the surprise ending. For more gripping Kevin Kerney mysteries, don’t miss: Tularosa and Mexican Hat.

excellent!

For years, McGarrity has been one of my favorite authors. Sorry he stopped writing mysteries, although his family history novels are worth reading. And Guidall is, of course, an excellent narrator.

best so far

Michael McGarrity tells a strong intricate story here with lots of action, conscience, victory and loss, but it is his portrayal of the fringe characters Mitchell and schizophrenic Robert and their interaction with Kerney that shines. Highly recommend.

great as usual

Excellent books for my commute. Incredibly descriptive writing allows for easy imagining of characters and storyline. Highly recommend this whole series and anything narrated by George Guidell.

Great story

Love the narrator, George Guidall. McGarrity writes a darn good story, too. Nothing like getting hooked on another author!

Loved this book. Love this author.

Kept my interest and the characters were set distinctly in my mind. Will be reading any and every book this writer publishes.

Enjoy this series

Great police story and series. Narration was great and the description of the land and people was compelling. My only disappointment is that the books 4-5 and 6 are not on audible but 7, 8, and 9 are. The gap between 3 and 7 would not be filled and as the stories do refer back you would be lost

I enjoy each and every character in his stories.

McGarrity does an incredible job of character development. You can picture each one from his detailed descriptions. On to the next one in the series!
