I enjoyed the moral fortitude, being yourself, forgiveness mindset portrayed by the characters. Left me feeling happy.

I first read this book when it came out since it was heavily recommended. I almost always wait for the audiobook but gave in, and it was worth it. then I got the audiobook when it came out and I found I enjoyed the story just as much even though I knew the outcome. that's a good book to me.

the story had great pacing. it never felt like anything was unnecessary or dragging too long.

the romance is exquisite. a couple you truly want to root for. Felicity and James aren't perfect, but they truly show you what true love is about. it's realistic and so romantic. the way they come to love each other is such a beautiful journey and you can truly see why they fall. they aren't similar people in their personalities or hobbies, but they love the other person for who they are, and they want that love so they put in the work. and it's truly beautiful

the rest of the supporting characters are great, they each have their personalities and motivations and reasons for the way they are. it's truly engaging. there was a lot of work put into each character development and it shows.

the author seems to be very knowledgeable of the time period. I'm no expert but I never felt taken out of the story by a modern sounding phrase or something that wouldn't happen in those times. and I truly appreciate that. it cane make or break a story.

the narration wasn't my favorite but that's not to say it was bad, because it wasn't. the male voice wasn't 100% great but I'm sure that's the hardest part, and I'm sure I couldn't have done better. in any case, this book is worth it. that's how good the story is. 10/10

do not skip this one, you will not regret it. it such a gem. I could talk about it for hours. and if when you read this, book 2 has become available on audible, go right on to it!! I've already read it (couldn't wait) and it's just as good.

thank you Kasey Stockton for a book I will be reading and hearing over and over <3

just as good the second time

I feel like I missed something. How is it over? Well written but I’m wanting more. I’m still waiting for the drama.

Still waiting.

A very enjoyable book. It’s a super sweet regency romance, and though a little slow at times, it firmly held my attention. The FMC, Felicity, has a great deal of empathy but suffers from social anxiety and a complete lack of confidence. She is quick to sacrifice her own needs and desires for others, and much of the story is about her growth in overcoming her insecurities. Her and James are strangers forced into marriage to protect their reputations. James is perhaps a little TOO perfect, as only a fictional MMC can be, but he’s so sweet and charming that it’s impossible not too love him… And really, this is a romance novel written for a female audience, so who’s really going to complain 😊

For those who enjoy listening, the audiobook narrator is excellent.

Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is no real mention of faith or God.

A super sweet regency romance

I do not care for the reader’voice. I this is my own preference. She did a very good job of reading.

Cute story.

I have been listening to a lot of regency romance lately, but this was ended up being a very nice surprise and it was not predicable. I really enjoyed the admiration and respect the two main characters had for each other at the start, and then deeply developed over time. Trigger warning: mean mother in law vibes.

Very nice surprise

The story was great. The romance and sexual tension was there. There were so many options to take the story, while still being tasteful but you skipped over opportunities to really bring the story home. Story line was great however. To read the second I would have to manage my expectations, My algorithms must be off 🙃

I wasn’t wild about mixing the two narrators. I think Justine does such a great job with male
Voices and the second narrator was good, just not for this book. The two didn’t mix well.

I always find it interesting when people criticize the personalities of the characters in the story. If they were different it wouldn’t make the book intriguing.

I listened to the first book and liked it. I will of course get the next one which will be about Henry

But I don’t think I can give it a 5 star. I was disappointed in the ending. It was like she was trying to hurry up and tie things up.

Certain dialogues seemed to go on forever and there were loose ends in my opinion.

Hmmm! I love Justine Eyre as narrator but not wild about the two together!
