About this listen

Sheriff Bree Taggert is both hunter and hunted in #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh’s blood-freezing thriller of murder, rage, and revenge.

New sheriff Bree Taggert is called to a shooting in a campground shuttered for the winter. But she arrives to find a perplexing crime. There is no shooter, no victim, and no blood. No one but Bree believes the sole witness, Alyssa, a homeless teenager who insists she saw her friend shot.

Bree calls in former deputy Matt Flynn and his K-9 to track the killer and search for Alyssa’s friend. They discover the battered corpse of a missing university student under the ice in Grey Lake - but it’s not the victim they were looking for.

When two more students go missing and additional bodies turn up, Bree must find the link between the victims. She knows only one thing for certain: the murders are fueled by rage. When Alyssa disappears, Bree must race against time to find her before her witness becomes another victim.

Great series. The book always kept my attention. I only wish the love interest was a bit faster at growing.

intriguing story with good female lead without being overpowering feminism. 2nd book in this series and packed with action, good storyline and never bogs down with side stories .
Narrator enunciate s well and has good rhythm and tonal inflections so you always know what character is speaking.

strong female character in good storyline

First of all, I love that her books bring in characters from her other books. Whenever I hear the name of those other characters I get excited because I love those characters too!
This book is a great read (well I did the audiobook so a great listen), well written, and easy to follow. It holds your attention and the narrator is great! With audiobooks the narrator makes or breaks it for me. I would recommend to everyone.

Another Great Book by Melinda Leigh!

Un-put-downable!!! Couldn’t stop listening to this mystery/thriller. It is just so good. I know it would have been spendy to use two narrators, but the whole production would have been perfect if the Matt character had a different person doing the narration. I thought Christina Traister was excellent and I will be looking for her again. But I thought her voice had to stretch to create that particular character and it was a bit uncomfortable. That said.. she really gave an awesome performance of an outstandingly good book by Melinda Leigh!! Well done!!

Wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the book. I enjoyed every bit of it. Would recommend this book to everyone. I am enjoying this series alot.

Alyssa actually telling the truth. I really thought she knew more. Or was aware of what was going on.

The performance would have definitely been better with both a male and a female narrator for the reading.

Great storyline!

It's awesome to see the character Bree grow. Unfortunately the characters weren't as likable as the first book and it feels like some characters are missing. Still a good story.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is not thrilled about her current position, but she DOES enjoy solving cases. The former Philadelphia detective is back in her hometown adjusting to life as guardian to her orphaned nephew and niece and getting reacquainted with her brother. Her latest case involves a homeless young woman who swears that she’s witnessed her friend’s murder. Except Bree’s team hasn’t found a body. Meanwhile, young men from the nearby college begin disappearing...their bodies recovered days later and badly beaten. With the help of former sheriff’s deputy, Matt, and his K9, Bree intends to catch a killer before her witness is the next victim. Good story. I like that Bree is portrayed as a regular person with normal family and relationship drama. Great narration helps to draw you into the story. Looking forward to the next book!
