About this listen

An invisible message from a dead man resurrects a decades-old mystery.

With her sharpened magical senses, Sylvia recognizes invisible writing while cataloging an obscure book for the library. She’s shocked to discover the message, written many years earlier, pleaded for help. She’s even more shocked to discover the author of the message was married to a paper magician. Could there be a connection to Sylvia’s father?

With a magical mystery on her hands, Sylvia engages the help of Gabe Glass, and together they follow the clues to the location of two hidden ledgers that implicate a very dangerous individual in an illegal bookmaking scheme. Although not named, Gabe is convinced he knows who the bookmaker is, and sets out to prove it.

The investigation draws them into the shady underbelly of the horseracing industry and uncovers a link to Gabe’s parents that takes everyone by surprise. As they unravel the mystery’s tangled threads, unexpected twists and turns lead them to the truth.

But the greatest twist of all is the danger no one saw coming.

Great series.

I love getting swept up in the plots, the people, the mysteries and the history. The narrator is excellent and the characters are very distinguishable.

Exceptional narration

Enjoyed the story, the characters, and the narration talent was exceptional. I was transported to the 1920s and easily fell in love with the main characters.

Keeps getting better

First off, the narration is perfect as always. I listen to a lot of books and she is by far my favorite. The story wasn’t as fun as other books but the bar is super high for this series so that isn’t saying much- I still thoroughly enjoyed it. And I don’t want to give spoilers but something I’ve waited for since the very beginning is happening in the next book and I can’t believe I have to wait until March!

LET THERE BE MORE!!!!!!

LOVE this series. Loved the first one I resd.. I have not jumped into any of the other series this wonderful woman has shared with us, and I’m sure the other series are great as well. I be letting you know in the near future.. However, I would like to have more of the whole group and more series where they spend their days looking for bad guys and good times. Want just more of this whole group. The characters are just wonderful, and there is such a good diversity among them. The stories are just perfect for me: not too deep, not too thin, not too bloody, not to slow - just perfect. (BTW - my name is Goldie-locks

FINALLY

I seriously cannot wait for #6 to be out because I want Sylvia and Gabe to be together for real. I love them so much. The entire crew is so much fun to follow. I have high hopes for Daisy and Alex, too! Also, as I didn’t real the glass and Steele series, I’m looking forward to meeting Gabe’s parents!

Hard to ignore annoying character

Like the ongoing mystery and the magic of the roaring 20’s. Really disliked the character of “Willy” and her juvenile affect on the plot. Ongoing ya depiction of affection shallow. Only finishing to answer storyline questions
