Publisher's summary

A stand-alone second chance grumpy sunshine romance about Josie and Maddox by USA Today best-selling author K. A. Linde....

Maddox Nelson is the only boy I’ve ever loved.

And the only one to break my heart.

I thought I was over that long ago. After drowning the heartbreak in two failed marriages, I should want safe and easy, and Maddox is nothing but complicated.

Now that I’m back home in Savannah, I can’t deny the pull toward him. He’s the grumpy to my sunshine, the introvert to my extrovert, the uncompromising to my go with the flow. But years of friendship, love, and tangled lust binds us together in the city where it all began.

When heat flies between us, he makes it clear that we already had our chance. Both of us should move on.

Except I’m no longer okay with that idea.

I’ll prove to him that I come second to none.

Incredible

This book is filled with all the angst and all the feels. Maddox and Josie are star crossed lovers from the moment they meet, unfortunately neither of them is in the right place or the right time for their relationship to work. All the years of ups and downs, knowing they were each other's person and never really having it work out, leaves them both raw and scared to jump in feet first. However, I don't think either of them knows how to be all or nothing. Years of everything with a little maturity thrown in there, brings them to a new level and maybe a lifetime of happiness. The secondary story of Josie and her mom was unbelievable, and I love how it was told through Josie reading her mother's journal, truly bringing them to a different relationship as well. I loved all the intertwined friends and relatives that we got to catch up on as well. This was an incredibly written book, that I could not put down.

➖▪️ SADLY DISAPPOINTING ▪️➖

I wanted to love this and I really tried but, for me, there was a bit too much back and forth over the years where something or someone always got in their way. Josie and Maddox have always been deeply attracted to each other.. but when Josie was sixteen her bff warned her off her twin brother Maddox because Josie was a bit of a man eater. And, over the many years and many many chapters of their casual friendship, angst, timings, boyfriends, girlfriends, two husbands and misunderstandings stopped the potential for more. Told in past and present chapters from Josie’s POV but sadly it just didn’t have the sizzle, heat, feels or romance I was hoping for.

Worth a credit? Very underwhelming and for me it’s a no.. but this is just my opinion - you may love it.

I tried I just couldn’t…. There was no connection between the characters, just felt half everything.
