About this listen

Falling in love with a young pop singer is the last thing successful songwriter Jill Griffin ever imagined. Since the tragic end of her marriage, the 40-something single mom had all but abandoned hope for a love story of her own. Then, boyband refugee Ben Fein walked into her life and stole her heart.

Jill wants to take things slow, keeping their relationship out of the glare of the media. When a dark secret from Ben’s past makes headlines, Jill begins to wonder how well she really knows him and just how far she is willing to go for a second chance at a "happy ever after".

Second Guessing is the story of Jill and Ben, who are so wrong for each other they may actually be just right!

Second Guessing

I guess I shouldn't have second guessed this book. I totally thought it was going to end differently than it did. The story was good, the characters were believable and I even found myself getting a little teary-eyed at the end. You won't be disappointed with this book. Loved seeing these characters again!

Let me start by saying how ready I was to listen to this. I wanted to find out how Jill moved forward and what she has been doing. There are many feelings I have about this story. I was connected to James, Jill and Alex as well as other in Guessing at Normal (Book 1). I didn’t want to change those feelings but no worries they have become enhanced. The author did a great job fleshing out all the characters. She has complimented book one perfectly.

I loved catching back up with Jill, Carly and even Alex. Heck all the characters! I liked that Jill moved on but still kept her relationship with James around. Carly was a joy! I love seeing all the similarities between her and her Dad..even Jill. I smile sappily when James sides come out. I have to say Alex surprised me! He has changed for the good!

Ben is a different character than James. He seems to think of Jill first. As time goes by I see the maturity in him, even though he is younger, that was missing in James. I loved how solid he was felt on their relationship.

There are a couple time in here that I felt really made me *feel*. That tribute concert just brought back all the feelings from book 1 (Guessing at Normal) rehashing the life of James and Jill. Tears were brought to my eyes during the video and photo montage. I was right there with Jill, Carly and his parents. The second is when Jill goes to see Pops (Brian’s Dad). He is so great and has amazing memories of the start of the band.

If you have read this far you have to know that I ended up LOVING this! The characters are intense and the story took me to places I didn’t plan on going. I would recommend reading Guessing at Normal (Book 1) first to get the full effect of this story. Better yet...listen on audio! That’s what I did. Gina Rogers does a great job and makes listening easy and enjoyable!

A treasure of a story....Perfectly performed,!!!

Second Guessing: A Rockstar Romance, an Audiobook by Gail Ward Olmsted was the beautifully touching story of Ben and Jill. He’s a renowned rock star and she’s twice his age. But, somehow they choose one another. But, there are so many obstacles, dissension, those opposed to the relationship. So, they choose to remain secretive.

This was such an incredibly, lovely, touching, warm, intensely riveting story that I adored every word I read!!! I was engrossed from the very first word uttered.

This story was phenomenally narrated by Gina Rogers! She brought these lovely characters to life and made me care deeply for each one!!! Her spoken nuances were PERFECT, the differences in characters were easy to discern since she had different accents for each….just incredible!!!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this Audiobook.

Fabulous Story & Listen🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

Gail Ward Olmsted rocks another awesome novel! I loved her book “Guessing at Normal” also a rockstar romance which is one of my favorite tropes. That book is Jill Griffin and James Sheridan’s story and if you have not read or listened to it yet I highly recommend that you do, it is a wonderful story and it will give you more insight about who Jill is and how she got to where she is in this book. That said, this book can easily be enjoyed on its own, it is a continuation of Jill’s story her life after James, all the need to know facts of her history are included so you will never feel lost. Jill continues to live in NYC and write songs, she met another special someone who she loves to spend time with but he is younger and she is reluctant about the relationship. She is also putting together a fundraiser, a tribute concert in honor her husband and the foundation in his name. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. I liked how the story counted down to the big event, loved how Ben did not give up on Jill, she was letting her demons and insecurities from her past get the best of her. I was happy when she opened her eyes and saw that, also loved how supportive her daughter became. Gail Ward Olmsted, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride. And that was one great lineup for that benefit concert.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Gina Rogers is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She continues to bring these characters and their story to life. She does a fantastic job portraying each character, grasping their persona and playing the role with perfection. You can hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Captivating!

Jill Griffin is the widow of James Sheridan, the rock legend killed in a car accident just a couple of years ago. Griff is arranging a tribute show for her late-husband and Ben Fein is playing the part of Jamie. Benjamin Feinstein is a young, rising rock star, most recently the lead singer for the Boy Band, Five2ndRulz. For a few months, now, Ben has been seen in Jill's company and the gossip rags are having a field day over what might be. Their age difference, she is 42 and he is 28, doesn't bother Ben in the least, but Jill's lasting self-doubts from Jaimie's infidelity and the destructive rock star life he led, keep her from trusting Ben not to hurt her once they're through. But when they're together, the world is perfect for the two of them and Jill has none of those doubts. Ben is such an endearing soul and shows Griff just how much she means to him every time they're together. The rock star life isn't all smooth sailing and Ben has some ghosts and regrets firmly locked in his past. The screaming fans, women throwing themselves at him or sneaking into his room, and the delusional, off-kilter fans whose fantasies have pushed them over the edge are part of the price he has to pay for his fame. There are multiple storylines that weave seamlessly through one another and the end is punctuated with an exclamation point! The epilogue made me tear up, but they were happy tears! The best kind of living happily ever after!  The narration is impeccably done by Gina Rogers. She brought each character to life and gave them their own personality and voice.
