About this listen

Before he was the guardian of Ciri, the child of destiny, Geralt of Rivia was a legendary swordsman. Join the Witcher as he undertakes a deadly mission in this stand-alone adventure set in the Andrzej Sapkowki’s groundbreaking epic fantasy world that inspired the hit Netflix show and the blockbuster video games.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, one of the few capable of hunting the monsters that prey on humanity. He uses magical signs, potions, and the pride of every Witcher—two swords, steel and silver.

But a contract has gone wrong, and Geralt finds himself without his signature weapons. Now he needs them back, because sorcerers are scheming, and across the world clouds are gathering.

The season of storms is coming. . .

A good Witcher story but much messier

I quite enjoyed this book, especially with Peter Kenny's usual winning performance. However, the story structure is more reminiscent of the short stories, but are forcefully tied up and mixed together into a continuous novel. Because of this, the flow can feel scattered and the pacing all over the place. However, at the end of the day, it is still a very fun and interesting story in the Witcher universe. Just be prepared to really focus on whats happening when and where.

Book 3 and I’m still hungry for more 😊

This is my third book in the Witcher world ( I’m trying to go through them in a somewhat Lore Chronological order - not in the release order ) and I can say that this builds on the universe that has been established . A lovely collection of stories ( not as much as the earlier two unfortunately) with one long overarching one throughout the book . Still an enjoyable read and looking forward to the next one . An interesting observation I’ve had , the book does cover a story that was also covered in Graphic Novel Form by Dark Horse ( Vol. 2 : Fox Children ) and I did notice some differences . While for the most part the graphic novel follows the book it does take a few liberties with the material . I will obviously not go into them here to not spoil it for anyone but let’s discuss if you have read both and are aware of what I’m talking about.

Another great set of stories tied together

Takes a bit to find its pace and often dialogue is too long with several monologues that simply wouldn't be tolerated by Geralt or most people. Ah well, very enjoyable and highly recommended for all Witcher Universe fans!

Seems disjointed

No reference to how Geralt is where he is now after the way the last book ended (trying to avoid any spoilers). Story itself is good, not sure about the ending.

Great books!!!

Jumps around a bit, but I’ve gotten used to the writing style. Peter Kenny has to be one of the beat readers I’ve come across, and I’ve listened to many. On to the next in the series.

the voice used to narrate fit the story perfectly. I felt as if I was there.

Narration voices too similar

The chief issue I have is that the voices range of the narrator is simply not wide enough. Characters talking to each other can sound the same and as the narration is pretty fast, you'd easily miss the dialogue tags, so yeah it's a clusterfk.

great book but something weird in the production

the story is great but I think something is wrong with the audio editing because sometimes the audio jumps a few seconds in the conversation, like a choppy editing

Another Amazing Story!

I just love the Witcher books & this is no exception. This is a must read for any Witcher fan but especially if you read all the previous books! Peter Kenny is my favorite narrator, he makes each character come to life & paints a very vivid picture. I highly recommend any of the books in the Witcher series.

Fabulous Interlude

As per usual the Witcher does not disappoint. What a wonderful, detailed world. Characters and scenarios fly off the page and the breaking of the fourth is a welcome diversion from normal narration. I swear that this was written to be adapted. Peter Kenny’s reading is prize worthy. He helps you to get into the action and his voice range always awes me. A must listen for any fantasy buff.
