Story
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti - Dozens of names refer to the existence of a similar creature. Native American tribes have hundreds of stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. The Cherokee has one such story of a beast called Tsula 'kalu, who is said to be a forest-dwelling giant living in solitude covered in hair from head to foot. Many believe that the government is aware of Sasquatch, and to protect financial interests, they choose to cover up what they know. Many other theories permeate the landscape of cryptozoology, yet no scientific proof has ever been documented. ...

Bishop is trapped deep inside Montana's Apex Valley along with his injured wife, a shotgun-wielding stranger named Colbrick, and a sneaking suspicion he's never making it back to Chicago. Things no man has seen before haunt the woods. Strange animal species creep behind pine trees, some of them with flashing red tags that blink faster and faster. Giant birds mimic the sound of humans and lord over the sky. Leaf-shaped creatures attack anything that moves and flash vivid colors across their glistening backs.

A POWERFUL ANCIENT RELIC IN AN UNEXPECTED PLACE Throughout the course of human warfare, no weapon has been as feared, as deadly, as the Ark of the Covenant. Legend claims that this mysterious, supernatural force, first carried into battle by the ancient Israelites, was so powerful that the Ark could lay waste to entire armies, entire cities in moments—thousands of years before the advent of nuclear bombs. So, when an ancient order of killers reemerges from the shadows after centuries of hiding—convinced that other secret societies took the Ark from Jerusalem to hide it in early America...

a genetic engineering nightmare
I am no geneticist, but I can imagine that a psycho who is may attempt something horrific on par with this story. this is a good listen. I can imagine some deranged genius combining the DNA of different species to create something new. the story takes this possibility to its extreme conclusion. the story is Well written, packed with scary hybrid creatures, and Lacks nothing in action and tension. I really enjoyed this listen. even the virtual narration was pretty good.
