About this listen

Steadfast mer king Kadir has endured ridicule, banishment, and undersea prison for his belief that modern human women will save their dwindling race. Freed to found a city of mermen shifters who share his beliefs, he sets out to the surface to woo his bride. And sweet, sensual Elyssa is his.

Elyssa can't even match her socks. How can she rule an undersea kingdom? But when King Kadir holds her in his bulging, silver-tattooed arms and claims her as his soul mate, deep down the shy introvert holds big dreams. Maybe his magical elixir will transform her into more than just a mousy, water-breathing version of herself. Maybe it will make her into an exceptional woman worthy to be a queen.

All is not well in the fragile new city, and it will take every ounce of Elyssa's bright courage and Kadir's unshakable faith to prove humans and mer shifters can live in harmony. Someone will stop at nothing to end this experiment. And they have deadly allies....

Nice

I like the characters in the story and the story it self...
But as a Danish woman, i would like to point out that The Little Mermaid is a Danish fairytale by H. C. Andersen, not a fairytale by the German Brothers Grimm.
Nitpick, maybe but im proud of H. C. Andersens fairytales

Much better than book one

I love the growth of their love and trust. At some points I wanted to throw up my hands and cry "oh come on, really" when it came to their self doubts and misunderstandings but overall very good.

Playing a game without the rules

I'm enjoying this series, but I'm starting to see a growing problem. They want brides. They want a "young fry"/ son. But instead of getting them on their own, they depend on humans that require payment? What i don't get is that they bring in a woman then get mad when she breaks rules she knows nothing about. I feel like a big part of this would be fixed if once the woman is chosen they are sat down and given the do's and don'ts. Maybe the next book is better.

Actually really good but..

I really thought so much more could've happened to develop the story more but was still a great book.

good series - excellent storyline

I am really enjoying the books in this series. I hope there will be more to come. 4 books is a great way to introduce mer people. I enjoyed the 1st 2 books and am looking forward to the last 2 books (so far). Fingers crossed there will be more.

Good potential, disappointing result

The story had good potential but the main characters were just too stupid to put up with. The heroine has a crippling insecurity and ridiculous lack of grace. The hero does not educate her on the rules of Atlantis yet blames her every time she does something wrong. No matter what she says to him he persists in making up problems and she does the same to him. I had to find something else to read because this one is just frustrating and depressing.
