Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. I'm stumbling around with no memory, no idea who I am, or how I came into existence. I mean, I know my life didn't just start. The pain in my ankle and arm tells me something happened, perhaps something terrible. If only I could remember. This planet is magical or cursed. I'm not sure which. Things appear and disappear before my eyes, terrifying monsters trying to devour me. I'm alone and frightened. And then I stumble upon them: three delicious-looking guys with hard bodies. They strip naked, transforming into powerful animals like prehistoric wolves.

Space ship travel when you've been kidnapped sucks. I don't get a pillow, there's no snacks, and worst of all—the whole ship crashes. Except, it doesn't crash on Earth, or even Mars. Nope, I'm in a whole new galaxy on a foreign planet and some body-builder-looking blue horned aliens with lots of piercings have decided I'm their new play thing. And not in a good way. Until one alien decides he's not going to share, and maybe I have a concussion from the crash, because I'm all about the possessive way he protects me. But there's no way he'll fight his whole clan for me . . . right?

Aliens, three species, invaded my world. But only one dares to conquer my heart. He works for the Septians, does their bidding with no regard for life. Cruel. Sadistic. A killer. And he targeted me, but not for death. Not for the breeding program. For something far beyond what I ever envisioned. He claims I’m his mate, that one ...

Story
Fleeing a life of abuse, Sheri climbs aboard a mail-order-mate spaceship bound for a distant station but never arrives.... Fate intervenes, and her trip takes a quick, deadly turn when she crashes on the planet Atera. She's surrounded by endless sand dunes, dangerous creatures, and alien beings that remind her of Earth lizards. But one particular lizard hardly leaves her thoughts - a sexy, two-legged, muscular male bent on protecting and caring for her at all costs.

Story
It's not easy being human when Earth is run by aliens. Lena has been locked up, imprisoned in a multi-species penitentiary on Earth, and all she wants is to get back to what she's good at: keeping her sister safe. Kormak is a Levekk - a member of the same cold-blooded alien species that enslaved her planet - and he is the key to her escape. Kormak hates humans, and he's not afraid to show it. They burn hot and bright but are snuffed out quickly, and the last thing he wants is a human slowing him down. But she needs a protector, and he's drawn to her flame.

Interesting twist to a tail…we have all heard before.
The last book I listened to with a reptile/mammal mashup man, they totally missed twisted tail action. I liked this book. Yes, I am a dirty bird.
Virtual voice is getting better, don’t let the narrator run you off because it’s virtual. Honestly, I keep a list of narrators that are SO BAD I won’t buy any book they narrate (yes Heather, you are at the top). I won’t let bad narration Costa me money.

Good read
The virtual voice is not too bad but with this story a real voice would carry more emotion to give the story a bit more weight.

Flat
Story would have been more compelling with a real narrator. The virtual narrator was just flat.

Gross!
I don't know why this book got all these goods reviews! I didn't even get thru chapter 8 before I gave up, it's just gross! It's like it's supposed to be this alien/dystopian romance, but the author doesn't understand romance or dystopian- weird! The father is shoving his 17 year old daughter, who is the only one working and supporting the family, into being an alien mailorder bride, so he can have money without working- and the alien practically rap*s her as soon as they meet, but even though she's saying no, she is all of a sudden having multiple O's.... yeah right! Just weird and gross! The AI narrator was probably the best part!
