About this listen

Julia Wolf’s Rocked, is an emotional and sexy rock star romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World.

What happens when a star begins to fade?

My life’s a mess. Record sales are plummeting and my inspiration has flown the coop. I’d do anything to climb back to the top of the rock music charts, even temporarily relocating to a small town to clear my head.

What I didn’t count on is the pretty paramedic named Kat next door who takes an instant dislike to me. Nor did I ever think I’d enjoy hanging out with her quirky, 12-year-old daughter and a dog who doesn’t believe the rules apply to him.

My new neighbor is strong, heroic, and unlike any woman I’ve ever met. I should stay away - and focus on reviving my career - but that’s become impossible when I can’t stop thinking about her.

Kat makes me want things I’ve never dreamed of before. She’s tempting me to give up the spotlight, which is crazy since she’s not asking me to stay and I know I can’t.

So why does the thought of walking away make me feel more faded than ever?

Devon...move in next to me!

I was so excited when K Bromberg opened her Every Day Heroes series, and this is the perfect addition! It's a rock star romance, but with a little twist. Rather than being the super famous star looking for a break, we meet Devon. He is in a slump, and his career is in a lull. He needs some inspiration, and moves to a town that has helped a peer. Now renting a cabin next to Kay and her 12 year old daughter, he has a new look at life. Kay is not interested a relationship. Co-parenting with her best friend is enough, but Devon gets under her skin. Charming, good looking and humble, she begins to fall for their newly forming friends with benefits deal. Will these two find a happy medium? I loved these two. Devon has a depth to him we don't always get with rock stars. He is at a point in life that lets us see his vulnerability and he isn't afraid to show it. Kay is a tough one. I love her independent streak, and spunk. She isn't going to fall easily. But the real star for me is the fun loving Ellie. She may be 12, but she is feisty and curious. I love her puppy and her instant ease with Devon. Other secondary characters make this a well rounded, fun listen and it was a blast to listen to.

Narrated by the talented team of Lacy Laurel and Alexander Neal, the story has an easy pace and a fantastic chemistry. Laurel brings Kat alive, with a fire to keep her feisty streak strong, and a vulnerability to let us fall in love Devon right along with her. Alexander Neal is new to me, and what a find! He is fantastic. He gets Devon, and brings all of his feelings to the surface and lets us watch him evolve. These two were really good and made for an enjoyable listen

Enjoyable

This is the part of the rockstar life you don’t normally see. The recovered guy who has changed his ways. It’s a heartfelt account of the famous colliding with the normal. Excellent performance.

Female narrator was not a good fit

I liked the story, but the female narrator sounded like she had a clothes pin on her nose and a Jersey Shore accent. Both the nasal tone and accent became more pronounced as the book progressed. It was hard for me to finish because the female narrator sounded and acted so different from how the character was described. This was a casting misstep.

I enjoyed ALL of the characters in here.

This is a great story but it moves along at a slower pace. Really getting the listener “into” these characters lives. There are laughs, chuckles and surprises in here. I really enjoyed going on this journey with all these characters.

I did listen to this on audio. The male narrator did an great job and I enjoyed his parts immensely. The female narrator kind of graded on my nerves more than once and it took a while of listening to her to get over that.

Overall its a story that deals with imperfections and regrets as well as self improvement. I really LOVED the last half of the book the best. This is a feel good listen.

So Many Feels!

This was such a good book. I loved how this story was layered with rich feels and lush emotions. I truly enjoy a romance that offers heat but also heart and I feel that description fits this book to a T. I thought that Devon and Kat were great characters and together they made an amazing couple. Their chemistry and sparks were hot and abundant. The book is skillfully written and I found it very easy to become invested in this duo. This book features dual narration. This is what I prefer and am always super happy to see it. I found both of the narrator's performances entertaining and I felt they fit the characters nicely. They made it very easy to get swept up into this book and really connect with these characters.

Just Ok

The story was good. I like most everything this author puts out, but was not a fan of the voice actors. Very whiny tone.
