About this listen

Three 20-somethings are all that stands between an otherworldly threat and the survival of Earth in the latest thrill ride by Dennis E. Taylor, author of the Audible and New York Times best-selling Bobiverse series.

Jack Kernigan is having a bad day...a bad year...a bad life. After being booted out of MIT, he’s back in his Ohio hometown, working for the family business, facing a life of mediocrity. Then one day, out on a delivery, his truck hits...something. Something big...something furry...something invisible. And, it turns out, something not of this Earth.

Fate can play funny tricks. Which is why Jack suddenly finds himself the planet’s best hope to unravel a conspiracy of galactic proportions that could spell the end of the human race. All Jack and his best friends, Natalie and Patrick, have to defeat an alien threat is their wits, a lot of coffee, and a rather snippy AI named Sheldon. Plus, their own spaceship.

After all, if you’re going to rescue the world, the least you can get out of it is your own spaceship.

This author doesn’t miss!

I loved every minute of it. Robert is one of my favorite authors ever. Huge fan of the Bobiverse series and his other works.

This is another hit!

Exciting, timely, and funny as hell!

Entertaining book, but a bit naive and repetitive.

The good: Roadkill is a very entertaining book, has great humor moments, and some nice science fiction concepts. It’s easy to listen to and you get to quickly love each of the 4 main characters.

The bad: Bob’s trilogy by Dennis E. Taylor are some of my top science fiction books I’ve ever read. The fourth book had a “simpleness” and repetitiveness that really made me not love it… I think this book has the same problem. It’s a cool story. It’s entertaining. But it doesn’t have you at the edge of your sit like the original Bob books or Outland did. I was expecting way more. Maybe the author is being pushed to write by the fans? Not sure.

Best Listen of the Summer

This was a really fun listen. I was skeptical in the beginning because the ship AI seemed ripped verbatim from The ExFor series, but it ended up being a most excellent listen. would love a sequel.

Fun read

The author has created a fun fast read. The plot is thin but the dialogue is believable and character development for a YA book is good. I recommend it.

Delightful SciFi Ride

Mix alien invaders, brainy college kids, snarky AI, and a handful of far out gadgets and you're in for a good time. If you end up saving the human race while you're at it... bonus points. Ray Porter voices all the characters with his signature charm.
