Abducted from Earth over a year ago, Lauren spent most of that time getting accustomed to her new life as one of the "animals" in an alien zoo.

When she's sold by the zookeeper, her life takes a turn she wasn't expecting. She has no idea where she'll end up 'til she's brought to a sanctuary owned by a tall blue hunk of an alien called Riv.

Riv's life is quiet and peaceful in a place as far away from civilization as he can manage. So when an annoying chatterbox of a human ends up on his doorstep, he's less than pleased. The human disrupts his life and his solitude and he can't wait to get rid of her.

He's not interested in helping her, and he's definitely not interested in love.

Except...she's managed to wheedle her way in and suddenly those barriers around his heart don't seem so strong anymore.

He has two options: Let her go. Or let her in.

I really enjoy the alien romances where the guys isn’t sure about her, and she and her cuteness grow on him

I'm new to audiobooks, but this narrator is so far my favorite as she actually has emotion when reading. Her male voices are a little cheesy but not distracting. The book itself was really good and enjoyable until the last few chapters when it felt rushed and slapped together. Overall good.

If you enjoyed the world of Xul and his rebel brothers, this is an happy unexpected extension of that universe. It is so cool to see how the rest of the universe lives with the gator-guards and their toad-like overlords. And it answers the questions about what happened to some of the other abducted humans. Quirky, funny and just enough steamy, I greatly enjoyed this listen.

This was such a good story, with lots of giggles throughout. The sexy spots had great build up and tension and the steamy bits were sexy but not cringe so it didn’t make me uncomfortable which I appreciate not embarrassing myself by flushing in the middle of Walmart while listening to the book🫣. Hollie Jackson rocked it as always, she really has to be my single favorite female narrator!

This was my kind of alien romance. Riv may be extra grumpy, but he’s an honorable grump.
Lauren is smart and capable and not simply a damsel. There are some cute pets and a few interesting supporting characters. Even with the slow burn, I enjoyed listening.

It’s a little darker than Ruby Dixon’s works, with a lot of the story spent detailing the slavery backstories. The overall tone, however, is sweet with occasional humor and two well done, and not overly detailed, sex scenes.

Some random thoughts:
While I’d have liked dual narration, Holly Jackson is my favorite female narrator for feisty alien romance. There are a bit too many F bombs for my taste, of both the Earth and the alien ‘fekken’ variety.
And the translation issues went on for at least half the book (still decently handled though).

I enjoyed the storyline and it was very funny. This was one on the lighter side for sure. I would recommend it for a romance on the happier lighter side.

Grumpy reluctant hero is very likable. Human is smart and determined. The story is a little unbelievable but Hollie Jackson is one of the best narrators in the industry; She draws you in. Will be listening to the follow up books in series.

This storyline had a little different flow following the alien enslavement of a human. It has some of the basics of this type of story, but this definitely had some freshness of a plotline that I truly enjoyed.
