Publisher's summary

Nathan's met Vince's family, but Vince hasn't met Nathan's, and Nathan would like to keep it that way. Holy smoked almonds, what else do you do when you know how completely nuts your relatives are?

Why, you ease your man into it, by introducing him to normal shifters. Assuming you can find any.

But with a gossipy werehummingbird spreading the news and a pair of young red pandas wreaking havoc with their fainting goat friends, Nathan’s about ready to climb into a pine cone and pull it in after him.

Then the local playboy weremoose hears about Vince, and Nathan has to find his inner alpha or the consequences will be worse than moldy hazelnuts.

Meet my peeps!

Nathan and Vince are a couple now, however Nathan is a bit (ok, a lot) leery of introducing Vince to other shifters. He plans to ease Vince into his world, but as Murphy's Law states: "Anything that can go wrong, will" This is just as much fun (if not more) as the first book.
Again, listening to John Solo is the best way to experience the story.
Now to patiently wait for the next book.

good

I enjoyed this book but it doesn't really feel finished. It's not a true cliffhanger it just leaves it very open for the next book.

Hilarity ensues

I thought the first one was good but this takes the cake. All the sass and laughter with a truly comical take on a David and Goliath! and John IS the voice.

More fun with Nathan and Vince.

OMG, this book was so much fun to listen to. Book 1 of this series was great but book 2 was even better. The cute chittery noises that John Solo makes for Nathan are beyond cute. He really knocked this one out of the park.

Nathan and Vince go camping and we get to meet all sorts of shifters: goats, a hummingbird and a moose, among others. Nathan's friends and family aren't too happy to learn that he's hooked up with human and hilarious hijinks ensue. I thought I'd die laughing when Nathan, as a squirrel, faces off with an obnoxious fellow who has shifted into a moose. OMG – the things that Nathan does to that moose – so, so funny and painful!

My husband and I listened to this together in the car and even though it was a bit steamy for him (MM romance isn't really his jam) he still enjoyed it and laughed along with me during all of the funny stuff.

There was a sample for book 3 at the end of this and I'm disappointed that I'm unable to find it either as an ebook or an audiobook. I hope the author is planning to continue this series.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

I love you more than my nuts and seeds

I loved the first book but I’m nuts over heels in love with this one. 😁❤️ I think I could read ten books about Nathan and Vince and won’t get tired of them. 🥰

So .. from stalking to becoming boyfriends, Nathan and Vince are in their own little happy bubble, mind you though, a bubble filled with nuts and sunflower seeds! 😁🥜🌰 But Vince is becoming more and more insecure about their relationship. Nathan has met his family but he has never met any other were shifters let alone Nathan’s family. Meanwhile, Nathan is also afraid that Vince would finally think he’s more trouble than worth it when he introduces him to his nutty family. Squirrels usually don’t like drama but his family thrives on it. 😂 So Nathan decided to test run Vince and tried to introduce him to other not-so-nutty were shifters. However, when does plans ever turn out the way you want to? 😏 Before family dramas, Nathan must first call upon his inner Alpha squirrel to defend his human lover/squirrel worshipper and mark his property once and for all before it becomes too late. 😉

To say this book is cute and fluffy and gooey would be such an understatement. ☺️ You just can’t help but melt every time Nathan squeaks or chirps. 🥰 And Vince is the purrrfect boyfriend! He’s just completely in love with his chubby, little squirrel and pampers him like a god. And oh my god! Nuts and honey porn guys!!! 🌰🥜🍯 I will definitely think about these two next time I eat honey. 😂 That was one very erotic scene. 🔥 And I loved the squirrel drama at the campsite and all those adorable side characters. A nosy were-hummingbird, mischievous were-red pandas, playful were-goats 💜❤️💜 .. OMG!!! 😱 Cuteness overload!!! 😍 I think this series is going to be one of my comfort listens from now on. 😊 The story itself is genuinely lovely and fluffy and John Solo’s enthusiastic and superb narration made this audio into one of the cutest stories I’ve ever listened. I simply can’t wait for the next book in the series because mama won’t never get enough of a chubby, fluffy squirrel and his human lover/worshipper. 🥰💜🐿🐿🐿

This series is nuts - in a good way!

Omg, if the previous book was funny, the opening of this one beat it by miles! Fortunately for me I’m currently the only one on my floor at work, so there was no one around to hear me snort and I dare say - giggle.

You know, for being a squirrel Nathan is surprisingly clumsy. Squirrels are normally very graceful creatures – I daily marvel at the one visiting every morning for – you guessed it – sunflower seeds. Hanging upside down by its hind legs, peeling seeds and eating – it never fails to impress me. Nathan on the other hand is constantly falling and flailing. It’s hilarious. Just like the first book this was fun and sweet, there’s no seriousness near it. I mean come on, a weremoose and a weresquirrel fighting each other for the top dog position should tell you all you need to know - and no I won’t tell you who won that fight, but it was soo much fun. So yeah the story might be ridiculous, sometimes that’s just what you need to brighten your day and make your life happier.

Once again I marvel just a bit about John Solo’s ability to impersonate a squirrel. And do it credibly. He just gests these characters and brings them to life like no one else could. I do think he has a were squirrel or two in his life to be able to so accurately nail his performance of one.

Adorable

And the laughter continues and gets louder with the Rise of the Alpha Squirrel , book 2 of Nutty Romances series.

John Solo was on point. His many and distinctive voices for all human shifters were hilarious and matched the animal personality and character traits. His comedic timing is spot on. Phenomenal narration.

Nathan and Vince are even cuter , sexier and quirky than they were in book 1. Their relationship is growing and it's official, they're boyfriends.

Next step , meet family and friends. Oh dear, things are going to get nutty.

Rise of the Alpha Squirrel by Kate Lowell is without a doubt , a fun , sexy and hot AF audiobook.
