About this listen

For Noah Vines, death isn't the end. It's a weapon.

After standing around in the afterlife for thousands of years, Noah is all out of patience. When the opportunity to steal a second chance at living arises, he doesn’t hesitate.

Reincarnated into the body of a dying magic school professor, Noah finds that he took more than just a second chance. He got infinite. Every time he dies, his body reforms.

Lives are a currency, and Noah Vines is rich.

With countless variations of runic magic to discover and with death serving as only a painful soul-wound rather than a final end, Noah finally has a chance to wander the lands of the living once more.

This time around, he plans to get strong enough to make sure that he never has to wait around in the afterlife again.

Cool magic system

The rune magic system is cool and the characters aren’t bad. I liked the story and will definitely be getting the next book that being said I’m not hooked on the people.
I think my problem with them was just a lack of development. While there is a couple of personal growth moments they are all somewhat one dimensional. We know the MC was a teacher but little else. You actually know more about the demon than you do him.
He sucks at waiting and drops various wisdom bombs through out, but how or why? It just leaves me wondering.
Still damn good story and narration.

Awesome magic system. Easy to understand but full of possibilities.

loved everything in the story, world building extremely limited so far though, MC appears to have little interest in learning anything but magic so far in his new world.

I’m down or this

Was not sure at the beginning but the length and content got me. I do hope the magic systems get explained a little better in the next book

Good story

The story kept me listening. It’s a great story and the main protagonist isn’t overpowered. Although some of the way Magic works is weird, other than that, I’m getting the next book.

Amazing beginning

One of my favorite starts to a series. Both, the voice acting and the writing was amazing. the beginning is cringe because of the awkward situation. But, it just adds to the story.

The Magic of Runes is interesting

As the title says I really enjoy the rune aspect of this setting. I feel it really sets it apart from other novels in the genre. The story has enough plot and pacing to keep one interested and invested. I can't wait for the next audios to be released. Really worth a purchase.

Entertaing and unique Isekai take

Actus creates a story where a professor dies and through the next-life processing mishap, gets to drink an inordinate amount of "extra life" chances. In the process, he is unceremoniously plunged into a recently deceased minor noble's body in a magic-rich realm. His body's previous standing was that of a magic professor and a lout of low morals.

Him, being from Earth, is clueless to this world's magic aspects and while he had some memories of the lout, they was superficial, at best. He soon realizes that he'll need to quickly and cunningly learn all about his body's swinish occupier quickly as well as progress into learning and earning lots of magic abilities.

The secondary characters are well-written with enough backstory provided to become invested in them. The story pacing is fluid and the progression is satisfying. There are lots of character secrets, along with an ample amount of intrigue.

Ramon De Ocampo performance is well done and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Solid Isekai Progression Fantasy

November 18, 2024
A teacher dies, and after an indeterminate time standing in line awaiting judgement, he is dropped into the body of a useless professor at a magical school.

He arrives with powers inappropriate for his putative strength (resurrection, albeit at a cost, which later turns into a much more powerful ability). By dint of superior willpower, he builds up his power rapidly. (So far, this is standard for progression fantasy.)

He works to teach his students well, and at the same time repair the reputation of the person whose body he took.

Then we start to find out that everyone has a secret, not just the protagonist.

The world is pretty generic for this sort of fantasy: arrogant nobles, monsters, magical spells, .... But it hangs together fairly well and fits the plot. The magic system is a bit of a mess, and the economy (what little is described) makes little sense.

Nicely handled story with sympathetic characters, and the flaws of the book don't much harm the experience.

Recommended.

Excellent world building, Fast paced

The author is very good at keeping the listener/reader entertained and engaged with the story line. Narrator is great. The world building is paced at the right speed as to not confuse the listener. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series to see if it can keep up the momentum of this first installment.
