A bit repetitive until about 60% and then it finally picked up. I had a hard time liking V but she had me by the end. Overall I liked the story and will listen to the next book, especially after that cliffhanger ending.

Narration was good.

OMG I’m in love with V. Whatever life throws at her she fight. Oh, she’ll retreat, is scared and hides for the ‘monster under her bed’ but she always comes back. Head held high!

Since the book ends on a cliffhanger, the jury is still out on Riker.

I went into this book blind besides the fact that I love K.Bromberg’s books. There were so many ups and downs through out the story that kept you hooked on Vaughn’s and Rykers story! It had all for feels and I can’t wait to see where else their story takes then in the next book. If you don’t like cliffhangers, I would recommend waiting til you have the second book before starting!

K. Bromberg continues to amaze me each time I read one of her addictive stories. I always seem to fall head-over-heels with every character the author creates.

Vaughn has secrets and she is determined to resist and to keep hotshot high-powered divorce attorney Ryker Lockhart at arms length and to keep her plan on track without making it more complicated. But Ryker has other ideas and won't leave her alone. Determined to win her over, he breaks down her defenses and fights for her trust. The only thing Vaughn didn't prepare for was going weak in the knees over this arrogant man who threatens not just her heart, but the life she is fighting so hard to create…

Ryker Lockhart is just down right yummy and Vaughn is a strong, driven and admirable heroine. The passion and fire between them is intense and scolding.

oh my the book ended and the next book in the series isn't out yet. I am left wondering what happened? I was captured by the characters.

From the first chapter I was hooked into Vee and what was happening with her character as she went toe to toe with the Senator. Any woman who can stand up and fight back is who I support and want to know everything about in the following chapters. What I didn't know is how I was going to fall in love with her story to the point that I was wanting to go back and re-read when I finished the book.

I use the WhisperSync version so I can still read when I can't listen (work conference calls, dang it!!!). However, the narrators made me want to LISTEN more than read because they were fantastic! Erin Mallon captured Vaughn's inner monologue so well that I could clearly follow the external communication versus what was going through the myriad of thoughts in her head. And Jason Clarke as Ryker --- oh my goodness --- the power behind the voice when he's making demands of Vaughn, completely believable!!!! Great job!

I cannot wait to get more of Vaughn and Ryker!!!!

I really enjoyed this book but I felt it was a bit long. The characters were good and the storyline was intriguing. I loved the roller coaster ride and couldn’t wait to jump onto book 2.
The narration was absolutely perfect.
This is book 1 with a cliffhanger.
I recommend this book!

i've got to move to the next book in this series immediately, because the ending to this one through me for a loop! I didn't see this ending coming! Can wait to see how this story continues.

A rollercoaster of feels from beginning to cliffhanger ending. I waited on this for both parts to be available & I’m so glad I did because this ending was a doozy!!
These Two people, a Madam & a Divorce Attorney, bitter and angry w the opposite sex for their own good reasons somehow end up being exactly what the other needs-but all is not what it seems when you play in the world of High Class Escorts & High Powered Divorce Lawyers - all w powerful MALE CLIENTS that rub elbows with crooked politicians with a penchant for violence against women and where old money bumps up against new values- and a modern woman once again tries to get ahead of a tragic past using the oldest profession in the world.
I love these narrators but there was a lot of drama & long drawn out thought processes that had me speeding it up to 1.25- which I hate cause Jason Clarke is everything!!
Completely Worth a credit or listening through my subscription to Kindle Unlimited.

What started out as a business arrangement between escort and customer, bloomed in to so much more. I really liked both characters and felt the chemistry between them. Vaughn has not had the easiest life and had her share of tragedy and heartache, yet she is a fighter who is determined to find a way to make life work no matter what. Ryker is a rich, ruthless divorce attorney for men, who wants nothing to do with actual relationships. Yet that changes when he meets Vaughn. Seeing his change was heartwarming, watching her resist and push was frustrating at times, but glad she let her guard down finally. Then as it goes in these book, it all blew up. Heading off to book 2 to see how this plays out. Audio narration was awesome, can't go wrong with either narrator.
