About this listen

Of all the dukes in England, Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford, was the wealthiest, most handsome - and most arrogant. And of all London's ladies, he wanted the tender obedience of only one - Caroline Richmond.

She was a ravishing beauty from Boston, with a mysterious past and a fiery spirit. Drawn to the powerful duke, undeterred by his presumptuous airs, Caroline was determined to win his lasting love. But Bradford would bend to no woman - until a deadly intrigue drew them enticingly close. Now, united against a common enemy, they would discover the power of the magnificent attraction that brought them together... a desire born in danger, but destined to flame into love!

Loved it

This is the second time I've read this book. I read it years ago. It continues to be one of my favorites.

Read the book instead.

I've discovered that these types of books just don't translate well when narrated. The female attempts to capture a man's voice (especially with a British accent) make the men sound like either pompous asses, or very effeminate. Some parts of the narrations were just embarrassing and very silly to listen to. I guess if you're going to read a romance novel (which can be pretty silly and juvenile anyway), it's better to just read it, and not listen audibly.

Abridged Version

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I listen to audio books at work it passes my time so yes for me it was worth it.

Would you recommend Rebellious Desire to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I am an avid reader. I usually read up to 5 novels a week, some are great, some good, some just okay. I would rate this as just 'OK'. It wasn't bad but it is not a book I could not walk away from. For me to recommend a book it has to be something I can't put down. I have just begun to listen to audio books and I like that I am able to listen at work. If you do choose to listen to this book I would suggest getting the unabridged version, the abridged version is missing too many details that are glossed over and never fully explored.

Did Anne Flosnik do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Anne Flosnik is not the narrator of this book.

Did Rebellious Desire inspire you to do anything?

Resolve to buy the unabridged versions of audio books, I felt I was missing part of the story. Much too much editing on this abridged version.

Any additional comments?

I normally read a minimum of 5 novels a week on my Nook, audio books could become expensive for me because I would like to be able to listen to these each day at work and at sometimes over 20 dollars a book it is not an affordable option but it is convenient. I am a voracious reader and while listening to audio books passes my time I find I still enjoy actually reading the book much more fulfilling.

TERRIBLE NARRATOR 😖😖😖

The narrator ruined the book one of the most annoying I have ever listened to! I couldn’t wait to get the to finish, ended up skipping it. 😖😖😖

Victim blaming, lack of consent, horrible narrator

I read this book when I was younger and remember really enjoying it. I bought the Abridged version by accident but which how bad the narration is and how big of a victim blaming jerk face the love interest I feel like it was a blessing in disguise. The narrator is very melodramatic, has one voice for females and one voice for males and it makes things confusing. Perhaps with more story development from the unabridged version I wouldn't hate it so much but this beyond disappointing.
