Critic reviews

"The second book in Holland's The Gods Dream Trilogy lives up to the excellent first volume in the trilogy. A captured prince tortured by an evil god finds his soul mate in an Earth woman badly wounded in body and spirit." (Jacqueline Diamond)
"Debra Holland has created...a world complete with complex cultures; language; petty, warring Gods; and characters that are compelling and sometimes endearing or frightening." (N. Peterson)

Second in the trilogy continues a fantastic story.

If you could sum up Reaper of Dreams in three words, what would they be?

A wonderful continuation

Wonderful sequel, second book in the God’s Dreams trilogy

The scenery, story and characters are are all well developed and draw you into their story. In a world with six Gods and their lands, an evil one must be defeated to save all.
A trilogy for science fiction lovers.

Such an epic adventure!

This story was just as wonderful as the first. Adventure, love, loss, death, faith, fighting for what's right, reunions this book has everything and more! If you're tired of the same old story and have a thirst for an epic journey this series is for you! It reminds of when I fell in love with The Never Ending Story when I was young! That feeling of saving the world and the amazing road you take to get there!

Well done! (again)

Where does Reaper of Dreams rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This series is so great. I'm so glad I found this author.

What other book might you compare Reaper of Dreams to and why?

Like the Sword of Truth series, Holland's worlds and characters seem so real. They are not over-written, yet they have depth, are creative, and (best of all) are memorable.

What about Noah Michael Levine’s performance did you like?

I can't believe a man can do all the voices so well. I hear a little girl speaking and I hear an old man speaking but it is all through Noah Michael Levine. He can do gruff and rough equally well with refined ladies or scared little girls. How does he do that? How does he get the emotions of a young woman (SPOILER ALERT) who has gone through rape just right? How does he know how to perform a scared, little girl (say 7 or 8 years old)?

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I usually have a hard time picturing the steps and movements of individual characters during fight scenes. With this book, I could see the fight scenes really clearly. So, this time, I enjoyed each of the battle scenes. At the end (I'm trying not to give anything away), I loved how one of the main characters (the king) deals with a fallen comrade.

Any additional comments?

The way Debra Holland handles such delicate themes really moves me. She writes authentically about subjects that society may find hard to read about (such as rape). She writes in a manner that does not over pull at the emotional heart strings. I feel she writes in a way that does not seek to lead the reader to have a particular response. Rather, she writes simply and beautifully about these subjects and allows me, the reader, to have my own authentic emotional experience.

Awesome!

What made the experience of listening to Reaper of Dreams the most enjoyable?

The way the narrator, told the story. His interruption of the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reaper of Dreams?

When the hero/heroine find their HEA. An enchanting tale.

What does Noah Michael Levine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the story and characters to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but unfortunately, I could not listen to it in one setting.

Any additional comments?

Recommend listening to SOWER OF DREAMS, first. An enchanting, enjoyable and satisfying tale. A continuation of SOWER OF DREAMS. A must have in your library. An excellent piece of storytelling and one I look forward to the next installment.

Complicated, but awesome!

What made the experience of listening to Reaper of Dreams the most enjoyable?

The narrator does a fantastic job with voices! Seriously, he switches from a grumpy Middle-eastern man to a woman from an alien world, with masterful ease. It's like listening to a full cast recording!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Daria. She was a girl who was not afraid to fight.

Have you listened to any of Noah Michael Levine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I think this was a better show of his talent, because he was forced to read ALL of the parts. I enjoyed the book he co-read with a female counterpart, but this series is all him, and he did a fantastic job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were several emotional scenes, especially when the siblings are unaware that they both survived.

Any additional comments?

See the title. It is a complex story, and unless you have excellent retention, or have JUST finished it, you should re-read book one before attempting to read book 2.

Yes! Great Audiobook that takes you into a whole other world. Easy to get pulled into!!!
The narrator did a wonderful job..... He was really into the story. You could feel the excitement.

What did you like best about this story?

Love the characters, the action, the adventure and the details that allow you to picture it all in your mind and escape from this world and enter into theirs.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Daria and Indaran saw each other again after so many years apart. Even if it was under stressful circumstances I kept wanting them to find each other. Longed for it!!!

Reaper of Dreams: Gods' Dream Trilogy, Book 2

I enjoyed this book more than the 1st. It was a very well written and action-packed adventure.
I could even picture this being made into a movie.

***The only reason, I didn't give the full 5 star rating is because there was some disturbing content
