Cole just wants to play football...but he can't even get off the bench!

Seventh-grade running back Cole Patterson is sure he could make big plays for the Oak Valley Middle School Mustangs, but the coach won’t even put him into the game - and the coach is his dad! Now star linebacker Jack Riley is saying Cole wouldn’t even be on the team if his dad wasn’t the coach. When Cole finally gets his chance to prove Jack wrong, will he take it? Or will he do what’s best for the team?

Father/Son Bonding or Is It?

A delightful story of a middle school student's struggles and frustrations while playing on his father's football team. I found the majority of this book extremely appropriate and realistic. There was one theme that I found hard to believe. Then again, I taught in Wisconsin and things may be different where the authors are referencing. The narration added to the enjoyment of the story and kept things going. I would expect to find this on many a middle school boy's reading list. I was given this book free for an honest and fair review.
