Hard to Hear

I appreciated Richard's sharing so openly with his life. I appreciated his unique perspective coming from his childhood in a brothel to being a truely authentic and famous comedian. But it was hard to hear at times, as he shared about so much trauma, drug use, violence and his many relationships. Certainly a reminder of our shared humanity, no matter your fame or fortune.

Insightful

The narration made several erroneous quotations, as well as inaccurate vocal inflections of Richard's material. The narrators inability to capture the vibrance of Richard's performance is quite excusable however.

Long Love Richard

This was a great outline of Richard Pryor's life. The Narrator did excellent job with making you feel as if Richard wrote it himself. The instead the sad stories were stories of triumph as he continued to live his life the way he wanted to live. Overall great book

Honesty

I enjoyed this book better than his movie, "Jo Jo Dancer." He opens up and expresses himself about his life, mistakes, marriages, and all the fun he had. It's true when they say your childhood molds your adulthood.

Wow

His life was so complicated. Great read. Worth the time. His womanizing ways often toyed with my ability to emphasize with him but at moments I had to remember he was born in a whorehouse. You can lose alot of respect for women in a environment like that. Also, never having his mother in his life played a huge part in his pain. I pray for his soul. A great talent. RIP Richard Pryor.

Fabulous

I enjoyed the book very much. I was worried about the narrator being able to do Pryors voice and his impressions. but he nailed it.. without being cheezy.

Resilience

You never know what a person struggles truly are.
Mr. Pryor revealed his authentic self. And was brave enough to share others as well. I will always be a fan of this man.

Emotional

I laughed and cried with this one. I love Rich especially on sesame street ABCs.

Outstanding!

A classic tragedy hidden in comedic success. Fascinating, written and performed most excellently! A definite winner 100%. I highly recommend this "book" if you like heroic stories of underdog odds being met by a modern juggernaut that helped define comdey in many different ways.
