Acerca de esta escucha

Renowned interviewer David Barsamian showcases his unique access to Chomsky's thinking on a number of topics of contemporary and historical import. Chomsky offers insights into the institutions that shape the public mind in the service of power and profit.

In an interview conducted after the important November 1999 "Battle in Seattle", Chomsky discusses prospects for building a movement to challenge corporate domination of the media, the environment, and even our private lives. Whether discussing US military escalation in Colombia, attacks on Social Security, or growing inequality worldwide, Chomsky shows how ordinary people, if they work together, have the power to make meaningful change.

The interview by David Barsamian with Noam Chomsky in Propaganda and the Public Mind is one of the extraordinary interllectual interviews I have ever heard. Never knew interviews could be so insightful.

Noam Chomsky's style of conversation and explanation of simple facts or complex theories/realities and everything in between is very logical and profound. No wonder Noam Chomsky is considered one of the very intellectual people living.

Some of the things covered in the interview were evident and straight-forward. However, my knowledge about the details of wars or the political system is not very immersed so I found some of the things difficult to fully grasp and understand. However, most of what he said made a good sense to me.

I look forward to reading/listening to book/audio books by Noam Chompsky. They are quite worthwhile. His knowledge and research seems quite profound.

Narration was well performed by Brian Jones though at certain times the interviewer's and the interviewee's voices seem to have blended altogether. :)

Very Insightful

absolutely instrumental, specifically for the current state of affairs that we are living through.

Must hear

Another great piece of work, as you would expect from this absolute legend of a man.

Worth the time

This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to learn more about the mechanisms of power, namely through propaganda (which is a very loaded term, but important nonetheless). If you’re looking for a Blackstone Audio production, this may not be your cup of tea. If you’re a person of ideas and are just plain curious, this is for you (no matter how you align politically). As I indicate in most of my reviews, this is book is the start of a long journey of ideas.

Regardless of what side of the political aisle

As a Vietnam veteran I was educated as to "why we fought". Certainly not for reasons we were told. Chomsky's diverse knowledge reveals something for everyone.

Incredibly Revealing

An intelligent but approachable series of interviews. I understood each individual word yet felt out of my depth at the implications of what was being said and the details I wanted to look up. This book made me want to go back to school and spend hours researching events that happened when I was too young to see the layers of nuance Chomsky highlights. Conversations that are complex rather than reductive. This was not the book I expected it to be. It was vastly better.

Intelligent and eye opening

I learned so much more than I was expecting to. I am inspired to do more research.

My eyes are opened...

Chomsky is informative and insightful, but my God could he be anymore negative, depressing, and pessimistic. Some of the thoughts and ideas I agree with and the informative, but the glass doesn't have to be not even half empty just empty all the time. I felt like I wanted to kill myself after some this....

Why do the US citizens keep pretending to be ignorant of the atrocities committed with their taxes throughout the World? It would be naive to think of everyone is just a brainwashed innocent citizen and victim of their government propaganda and the wealthy elite.

Just Another Great Book from Chomsky

This a series on interviews making for a great into to Chomsky. It ranges from his critics of American intervention and self propagation to the media and even his study of linguistics. He shines a light on the flaws of Jimmy Carter(who did many unchristian acts), Buch,Regan and Clinton. He doesn’t spare other despots in Russia, India China and many other. If you love Chomsky you’ll love this listen. If you don’t know him you’ll love to get to know him. If if you disagree with his conclusions you will be challenged.

Never dated
