Publisher's summary

Jon Hudson, lead investigator for the Department of Homeland Security's Fusion Center-P, thinks his job is a joke. While other Fusion Centers focus on thwarting terrorist activity, Hudson's division is tasked with handling paranormal threats to national security, of which there have been zero during his years at the DHS. When yet another Sasquatch sighting leads to a research facility in the backwoods of Maine, disguised as an abandoned Nike missile site, Hudson's job becomes deadly serious.

Hudson and the local Sherriff, Ashley Collins, suddenly find themselves on the run from a ruthless ex-Special Forces security team, but the human threat is short-lived as something very much not-human destroys the facility and heads for civilization, leaving only a single clue behind-a name scrawled in blood-Nemesis. Working with his team at Fusion Center-P, Sherriff Collins and a surly helicopter pilot named Woodstock, Hudson pursues the creature known as Nemesis, attempts to uncover the corporate secrets behind its creation and accidental release, and tries to comprehend why several clues lead to a murdered little girl named Maigo.

But as the body-count explodes, along with the monster's size, it quickly becomes clear that nothing short of a full military response can slow Nemesis's progress. Coordinating with every branch of the U.S. military, Hudson simultaneously searches for clues about Nemesis's origins and motivations, and leads the counterattack that will hopefully stop the monster before it reaches Boston and its one million residents.

Witness the birth of a legend as Jeremy Robinson, bestselling author of SecondWorld and Ragnarok, combines the pacing of Matthew Reilly with the mystery of James Rollins and creates the first iconic American Kaiju* story since King Kong.

*Kaiju is Japanese for "strange beast." The genre includes classic monsters such as Godzilla, Gamera, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.

This was fun.

I'm new to big monster books. This was a good one to start on. Good action but best of all, the kaiju has a method, a reason for being that can be followed in the story line. I liked that is not just some mindless beast.

Action packed good story, surprisingly funny

The hero in this is funny, not wisecracking all the time but he definitely has his moments. If you loved Godzilla when you were younger you will probably love this too. I'd recommend it.

The kaiju genre is reborn! in PRINT!

What made the experience of listening to Project Nemesis the most enjoyable?

I believe just the great writing and storyweaving in general! and of course I ADORE Kaiju (I have loved the genre since I was a child) and feel far too few are brave enough to approach this genre any more.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Project Nemesis?

Probably the rebirth of Maigo in the lab....she is not a kaiju yet but she is a true threat to be reckoned with.

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

I think Jeffrey does amazing on all the character voices in this.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did.

Great Book

This series is my first in the kaiju genre and the first series I have read of Jeremy Robinson. It is very well done and adds a great deal of detail without boring you.

Take my money

Would you consider the audio edition of Project Nemesis to be better than the print version?

If you're an audio version fan, then yes- absolutely. Otherwise I'd say they are probably equal, I just prefer audiobooks these days.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved them all, of course, but I'm partial to Sheriff Collins. She's a badass partner.

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to Jeffrey Kafer's narration before, but after the Kaiju series, I will be again.

Any additional comments?

This audiobook is excellent to listen to. With all the action involved, you feel like you're actually watching the scenes take place and Jeffrey Kafer performs Jeremy Robinson's words perfectly. Tons of action, humor, fun, and a giant monster! I definitely recommend checking this out.

Good book.

The only problem is the books are too short. I have already purchased the next two..
