worth the read

I've been driven to learn project management out of necessity. This book gave a great introduction into unofficial PM, and laid out the basic steps. I found the example stories relevant. I would like more detail on planning and setting long and short term project goals, but this was a great first step for me.

Exactly what I needed!!

Wonderfully laid out in a logical sequence. It gave me the mental framework I need to help our small company of 16 people manage projects more effectively. Stories along the way made it interesting as well. And the bonus material PDF gave me some useful stuff to hit the ground running! So good I ordered paper book as well so I can use it as a reference guide. I would highly recommend to anyone who has projects (big or small) they want to manage more effectively! Awesome job guys and thanks!!

Helpful overview

This was a helpful, not too long book about the basics of project management. I feel like it rounded out what I already knew just from experience, so very much worth it to feel like I have at least some idea of what to do as an official or unofficial project manager. There are several example stories that carry on through all the chapters to illustrate the point.
Note: there are several planning sheets that are a little rough/not too useful while listening, but you do get a pdf in your files folder with all the diagrams/forms.

An older model of project management

There are lots of good things in this book, especially the Four Values. Unfortunately a lot has happened in the last few decades which make the "waterfall" Gantt-chart model outdated. Specifially: WIP (work in progress), Agile, and the Theory of Constraints.

Excellent examples and use of tools

I took a masters class of project management and it had a lot of the tools they mentioned in the class. Take notes, listen to it twice.

An excellent help in preparing to manage projects

My position involves project management skills at all points of the work. This book was tremendously helpful in cutting through the jargon to help me understand the tools that are most relevant and useful to me. I have recommended this to all my colleagues.
