Review of Pox

This book did not disappoint! It wrapped up the whole series. Loved it! Narration by Kevin- well- he could just talk butter right off the toast! Excellent!

A satisfying conclusion

I have been a fan of this series and learning that there was a metanarrative within the scope of the books was the icing on the cake. Here, in the conclusion of the series, Abrahams ends the series with the classic zombie apocalypse (faux-zombie) but concludes the story and answers the questions set up throughout the series.

While the series could have probably included several other scenarios, the metastory does well with the series being the length it was. The characters continue to be just as interesting although the bad-guy thief and reporter tend to be ancillary characters (especially the bad guy) and have been in most stories. The ending is also satisfying and I feel like Abrahams could have ended the story in such a way as to tease that the story hasn't quite ended but he chose not to take that route. The zombie part of the story does tend to take a bit more of a backseat in this to bring forward the metastory and the progression of it is pretty quick. Some more discussion could have been taken with the zombies but that is clearly a focus decision the author took.

If you enjoyed the series so far, the ending won't disappoint. I really enjoyed the concept of this series and would check out other books by Abrahams as a result.

Final Grade - A

I am glad I invested money in them.
Kevin provides constant quality audio through this whole bizarre series.

Please dont end this series

What a fantastic story weaved throughout all of these books. The last episode was quite unexpected. I loved every minute of it, and Kevin Pierce is fantastic and makes the stories come alive. The concept of the series is way beyond anything I have ever read. I truly wonder if the author had the end in mind when starting this series, or if it just developed along to make it interesting. I would like more!!

Wow! What An Ending

Wow, where do I start with this one. First off, I’ve loved the Alt Apocalypse series. I thought Abrahams did something extremely ambitious but also interesting by taking the same characters and same sort of over-arching storyline to different apocalypse situations. Each situation was different and therefore different people died in different books.

Pox is the last book in the Alt Apocalypse series, which, if you didn’t know or realize, the books spell out Alt Apox:

Ash
Lit
Torrent

Affliction
POX

So, when I realized this was going to be it, I went in a bit worried that it was going to let me down. Not because Abrahams has let me down before (he hasn’t), but because it was such a unique series – how the heck was he going to tie up all the loose ends and maybe even tie the worlds together. You could have given me one hundred guesses and I wouldn’t have come up with a more clever way to tie the worlds together. Proving that Abrahams is a true master author.

I really want to write how he tied it all together, but just know that you’re in for a ride. I’m so happy that it ended the way that it did and honestly each character got what I thought they deserved. I honestly couldn’t ask for more and that’s rare with apocalypse books.

I think I need to end my review here because I want to spoil this book SO bad, but everything else I want to talk about revolves around the choices that Abrahams made and the different things that he put into this specific book that tied everything up in a nice bow. If you’ve read and enjoyed any of the other books in this series – you should sprint to pick this one up. If you haven’t, I highly recommend the whole series (I think that Torrent was my personal favorite).

Wild finish to a wild ride

Wow what a brilliant and to the series. Can’t say enough good things about this one. Just when you think you’re going to guess what is going on there’s another curveball. I love this entire series and this is just the icing on the cake. By now, you know all of the characters but they’re just a little bit different in each book which is awesome. And there’s just little bits and pieces from the other books implanted in this one to give it that extra kick. Just such a cool ride. Start off with the series and you’ll fall in love with it. The narration is great and very consistent across the entire series. There could not of been a more perfect voice for this entire series. If you have followed this series entire way you will be very happy with the conclusion of it!

Too redundant

I enjoyed the other books in this series but this one just didn’t grab me and felt redundant.
