About this listen
Police Mental Barricade: A Survivor's Guide to Poor Law Enforcement Leadership is a raw and unfiltered look into what is causing the growing epidemic of suicides within the profession. Last year, Blue Help reported 228 (known) suicides within the law enforcement profession. This is compared to the 147 killed in the line of duty.
We are losing more officers at their own hands than we are to deaths on the job. Why? Partially, this is from poor leadership within the law enforcement profession, and it needs to addressed in order to stop the epidemic.
Nicholas Ruggiero sacrificed his law enforcement career to speak out about poor law enforcement within his agency by creating The Roll Call Room podcast. This podcast became an overnight success internationally, with listeners in 34 countries and amassing more than 150,000 listeners. As a result, many officers and spouses of officers gained resources to help end the stigma of getting mental health help.
Police Mental Barricade is what every officer needs to listen to and be prepared for the poor leadership and how to navigate through the tough times the law enforcement profession is in. This book will help you recognize toxic leaders, cowardly leaders, and exceptional leaders.

Story
The revised and updated edition of Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's modern classic about the psychology of combat, hailed by the Washington Post as "an illuminating account of how soldiers learn to kill and how they live with the experiences of having killed". In World War II, only 15 to 20 percent of combat infantry were willing to fire their rifles. In Korea, about 50 percent. In Vietnam, the figure rose to more than 90 percent. The good news is that most soldiers are loath to kill.

A great book
I've been in LE for 25 years and this book nails it! We have a ton of bad leaders right now. This book really tells it like it is and I commend Nick for taking a major risk by exposing the toxic environment we deal with day in and day out. I'm more worried about getting screwed over by my command then I am criminals on the street.
