Publisher's summary

Hitchhiking her way through Alaska, a young woman named Anna is picked up by Kyle, a fisherman. Anna and Kyle quickly fall for each other, as they are both adventurous, fiercely independent, and in love with the raw beauty and solitude of Alaska. To cement their relationship, they agree to become caretakers of a remote lighthouse perched on a small rock in the middle of a deep channel - a place that has been uninhabited since the last caretaker mysteriously disappeared two decades ago. What seems the perfect adventure for these two quickly unravels, as closely-held secrets pull them apart, and the surrounding waters threaten uncertain danger. A psychological thriller set against the rugged landscape of coastal Alaska, Point of Direction is an exquisite literary debut.

Great writing, Rachael!

Rachel, I hope you read your reviews. This is a work of art with deep insight and original description. I am impressed at how turbulent the waters are with violent action, all within the psyche of people fighting their demons the one truly effective method. Patience and acceptance. You packed such profoundly stirring issues into easy read. I think you wrote a classic, Rachel! And your personal history must be rich. Let me know when you finish another. Let's have coffee! - Cindy

Time (and Alaska) heals all wounds

Where does Point of Direction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Fabulous book! I loved the sense of adventure and the characters' devotion to healing themselves of their past.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Point of Direction?

The vivid description of the glacier and the pressing claustrophobia made me feel I was there too.

Have you listened to any of Kate Hampton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any other of Kate's narrations. I think she did a fabulous job with this one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Dare to find yourself

Great reading, didn't get tired of her voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I wouldn't say it "moved" me in an emotional way. It was a thrilling read at times, a good solid mystery.

Travel to Alaska

What did you love best about Point of Direction?

I enjoyed the setting. Not too many stories are set in the cold desolation of Alaska. The story of surviving on a remote island in such harsh conditions was unique.

What could Rachel Weaver have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

There was one big coincidence in the story that I felt strained credibility. And, the ending seemed rushed.

What three words best describe Kate Hampton’s voice?

Average, nothing special

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Point of Direction - where people go to escape themselves.

Heart

This book found and moved some of my own injured pieces. I can see my self in the real was, the humanness of the characters. This book came to me as I also try to heal, and couldn’t be more grateful for the stunning imagery Rachel paints through words. All I can really say is, Thank you.
