A Moving & Amazing Emotional Rollercoaster Ride!

Wow, Claudia Burgoa takes you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride in this first book of her “Second Chance Sinners” duet, a story that is so captivating it is hard to put down. Zeke Hutchence’s mom passed away when he was young and with no family to take him in, he wound up in foster care. He ran away just before his sixteenth birthday and, looking for a safe place to spend the night, he broke in to a florist. Unfortunately, or fortunately the owner were people who cared, and they wound up helping him out of a bad situation by calling someone who could help and hook him up, not only with a place to live, but to put him on a path for his future, including finishing his education and focusing on his strengths and talents. Tristan Cooperson, along with others, runs the Cooperson Youth Center, aka The Coop. Once they handle all the logistics, they placed Zeke in an apartment with Ethan Killion, another with a troubled past. He came from Texas with Tucker, who is Thea’s son. Zeke and Ethan, who is more of a geek, were not sure why they paired them together, but despite their differences, they do become friends. Ethan is still dealing with his inner demons and Zeke comforts him and gets him thru his nightmares. Their friendship grows into something more, something Ethan struggles with and is afraid to come out, Zeke is more secure and accepts that he is pan. It was hard to watch Ethan’s struggle, afraid to show his true feelings, denying himself and Zeke. Despite their relationship, they were still good friends and with their friends Tucker, and Hannah they formed a band, The Sinners of Seattle, Rocco joined them too. The band did well, practically an overnight sensation, but were they ready for everything that came with the fame, even with a great support system, or were they doomed from the start? This is a fast moving and wonderfully plotted story, the drama is non-stop and the emotions, so many emotions, heart-rending and gut wrenching, all were heartfelt, some steamy romance too. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride. And that ending, wow, just wow, I just can’t believe it.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, JF Harding and Aaron Shedlock were the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. Their talent knows no bounds, and they did an amazing job portraying these characters, giving each their own voice and personality. Shedlock nailed it as Zeke, grasping every side of his personality, and Harding did the same for Ethan, both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the other characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, making you feel every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Love it

Pieces of Us by C. Burgoa is the first book in the Second Chance Sinners Series. The book is not a stand-alone.
It's Zeke and Ethan's story. Both are teenagers and already through a lot when they meet. Their lives never were sunshine and roses and they carry a lot of issues. After finding friends and becoming a family all of them still have issues, secrets and the scars to prove it.
Pieces of Us intoduces the members of SCS, the rock band, their members, how they grew, grewup, become famous, fail and simply try to live their lives. Accompanied by tragedy, devastating losses, but also love, the storyline spans many years.

I started reading and was enthralled with the story. I loved meeting characters from previous books, loved learning what happened to them, loved to read how they found their hea, found love, settled ina good life.

But the story did a number on me. It's an absolutely heart-wrenching tearjerker. POU put me through the wringer with a story that gave me all the feels, had me in knots, had me in tears more than one time. POU deals with sensitive subject - consider you warned and be prepared to have tissues at hand.
I wish I could give more than five stars. I recommend the book and can't wait for the next installment.

Loved it - Great story and great narration

Oh my word what an emotional story Pieces of Us was. I was totally invested in Ethan Killian and Zeke Hutchence’s MM story from Claudia Burgoa from the first to the last paragraph.
This is a beautifully written, heartbreaking story; it’s a story of looking deep inside yourself and embarking on a journey of self discovery. It’s a story of pain, anguish, tragedy and also of a great deal of drama, which will have you on the edge of your seat whilst reading.
Both Ethan and Zeke had horrible childhoods and met when they were sixteen, bonding over their love of music. These guys have history coming together to form Sinners of Seattle with Tucker, Hannah and Patrick. They keep their relationship a secret and it is keeping that secret that almost destroys them, particularly Zeke.
The narrators JF Harding and Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job with their narration. They brought all the emotions, pain and intensity of the characters to life for me with their emotional performances.
For Ethan, he is finally making his way in the world and is successful, whereas Zeke is struggling, in and out of rehab and lost. There were times that my heart almost broke for him and I feared for his sanity. Loving Ethan and knowing he cannot have him is slowly killing him.
There is loss, betrayal, regret and both characters struggle throughout this story. You can feel the angst as you read this complicated love story as they both struggle with their feelings.
Be prepared this book ends in one heck of a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Burgoa has in store in Somehow Finding Us, as this book left me with one heck of a book hangover.

Heartbreak

I enjoyed the dual narration, the narrators gave more depth to the emotions of the characters, and this was a very emotional story. My heart went out to Zeke, he was the most giving person, but kept having his heart broken. He was there when Ethan needed him, but Ethan turned his back on Zeke. He had other let downs and let two of his band mates lead him to using drugs to escape his pain. I wanted so badly for Zeke to find peace, but I couldn't see how his shattered life could be put back together.

Wow!!

I almost never read/listen to books out of order. I read the Spearman Series and was so interested in Hannah’s relationship with “The Guys” that I listened to this one. I went in thinking Ethan was the strong guy because he always took care of Hannah but after this book I learned he’s not strong at all. I’m so happy I dove into this book and learned their story. I only hope part 2 doesn’t leave me crying!!

The feels! An emotional story!

Pieces of Us by Claudia Burgoa, narrated by JF Harding and Aaron Shedlock, is the first book in the Second Chance Sinners duet and it is full of all the feels! Ethan and Zeke’s story captivated me from the start. We meet Ethan and Zeke when they were young and we get to experience their connection from the start. The chemistry they share is undeniable, but life is never easy and choices are difficult and takes them on separate paths. My heart broke for them. Their journey is not an easy one. And as this is book one in the duet, it will leave you hanging, but I devoured every minute of it!

Happy listening!

All the Feels

When I read the ebook I was affected by the angst, struggles and the emotions of the characters. Listening to Aaron Sherlock and J. F. Harding bring this story to life made the story more intense for me. The narrators do an excellent job of capturing the true essence of the characters.

Emotional start to a stunning duet

Pieces of Us is the first book in the Second Chance Sinners duet, and it is such an emotional male/male romance. Lots of drama, young love and struggling with identity as Ethan and Zeke connect.

The writing and material is so wonderfully emotional. Ethan and Zeke both have had very hard childhoods, and when they find solace in each other, you really feel their connection. But by the end of this installment, they are separated and warring with each other. Listening to them come together is beautiful, just as listening to them fall apart is completely heartbreaking.

Narration by JF Harding and Aaron Shedlock is amazing. They're both so open and raw, and really enhance the material.

Trigger warnings for addiction, abuse.

Pieces of Us

Claudia Burgoa brings her A-game to the first book of the Second Chance Sinners Duet.

Zeke and Ethan's book is well written, emotional, and hard to put down. They have each been through so much, from difficult childhoods to their band to trying to figure out their relationship.

There's drama, heartache, and characters and you can't help but to be invested in their journey and eventual HEA. As this is the first book in the duet there is a cliffhanger and lots more story left to go. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
