About this listen
When 12-year-old Peter Constantine wakes up in the Crown Hotel with a new identity, life is over as he knows it. But perhaps that’s not such a bad thing....
A dangerous man Peter only knows as The Client is after his family, so they’ve relocated to New York City. With help from unlikely friends living at the glamorous hotel, including the ghost on the 10th floor, life begins again. However, Peter soon learns of a plot to destroy his new home, a plot only the Phantom can foil.
Peter and the Crown is the first book in the Phantom of New York series, an adventure for listeners age 10 and up. If you like smart, funny characters and can't-pause escapades, then you'll love Alan Janney’s Phantom of New York series.

Amazing story!
I love this book! My 13 year old son and my 9 year old daughter both enjoyed it! It’s so nice to have a book like this with an age appropriate story that isn’t about boy crazy girls or super hero’s on their underwear!!

Phantom leaves you wanting more!
Would you consider the audio edition of Peter and the Crown to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but listened to the book on a road trip recently. I think it started a little slow but I found myself "binging" on it without even realizing it. The book "grew on me".
What was one of the most memorable moments of Peter and the Crown?
I think Peter's encounter with a ghost is the highlight. Janney did a good job building up the suspense of the encounter and it didn't fail. I love that Peter had to overcome his lack of belief in who he is/was and overcome fear to realize his potential. This is very "Harry Potterish."
Which character – as performed by A. L. Janney – was your favorite?
I think Peter is a lovable character that is easy to cheer for but the cast of characters is really diverse and entertaining.
Any additional comments?
I am excited to read the next book. I think Allan Janney is a rising star in this genre. I stumbled onto him with his Outlaw Series and loved it. The Phantom series is for a younger audience and has great potential to be very entertaining. I can't wait to see what the Phantom does next!
