About this listen

In his continuing quest to earn college recommendation letters from the gods, Percy has to pet sit the goddess Hecate's polecat and giant mastiff during Halloween week. What could go wrong?

Rick Riordan’s newest Percy Jackson adventure is full of hilarious set pieces, a diverse cast of gods and monsters, and many other delightful tricks and treats. Percy Jackson, now a high school senior, needs three recommendation letters from the Greek gods in order to get into New Rome University. He earned his first one by retrieving Ganymede’s chalice. Now the goddess Hecate has offered Percy another “opportunity”—all he has to do is pet sit her polecat, Gale, and mastiff, Hecuba, over Halloween week while she is away. Piece of cake, right?

Percy, Annabeth, and Grover settle into Hecate’s seemingly endless mansion and start getting acquainted with the fussy, terrifying animals. The trio has been warned not to touch anything, but while Percy and Annabeth are out at school, Grover can’t resist drinking a strawberry-flavored potion in the laboratory. It turns him into a giant frenzied goat, and after he rampages through the house, damaging everything in sight, and passes out, Gale and Hecuba escape.

Now the friends have to find Hecate’s pets and somehow restore the house, all before Hecate gets back on Saturday. It’s going to take luck, demigod wiles, and some old and new friends to hunt down the animals and set things right again.

Not very dramatic, yet very

It seemed like Rick Riordan tried a little to hard to make it so Percy had a “lesson”, and it just seemed a little forced. Along with that, it seemed a little low on comedy. There was a lot of jokes, but none made me laugh like they usually do. Lastly for the negative comments, the story line was missing something big. I have read The Titan’s curse exactly 91 times, and am planning to continue to make that number larger, but I will probably only listen to this book one-two times more. But, there was a lot of great parts in the story, and definitely enough drama to keep me reading. The performance was very nice, though I had to speed it up to 1.25, but that is just how I like my books read. Over all, it is a very good book, and if you have read the original Percy Jackson books, all the way to trials of Apollo, and chalice of the gods, I definitely recommend this. It needed work for sure, but I enjoyed it. Those were some things that I liked and disliked about it, and I know I hated on it a lot, but it really is good. I hope you have a very good day, and wake up refreshed, and content tomorrow, along with all the other days to come.

good but...

Not as good as previous series, both this and the last book were sub par, good but felt like a child's point of view not an almost college age young adult/teen's point of view. Story just felt kinda clunky compared to the build up series. I get it's supposed to be kind of a short story to kinda back fill is in on what happened to the Percy gang while Apollo was out there mortaling it up an getting his godly but kicked an insulted, but just didn't feel like it did the originally trio the Justice they deserve and the rest of the demi god gang as well. Still enjoyed the story but the beginning was fairly dry and it felt like it took me longer to finish this short book then it does too a non twice as long.

Amazing and Captivating Read!🤩

I had marked on my calander the date of its air onto Audible! As usual Jessie Bernstein did an AMAZING JOB narrararating, worth the wait you should most definitely get it! (I personally think it’s better than the first but that’s just my opinion.)

Hail Hekate!

I love that Rick’s latest book involves the mighty Triple Goddess herself , Queen of the Cosmos, Hekate/ Hecate

Even though we spend more time with her pets than we do her, uncle Rick ensures we get to fully understand the magnitude of her power over the Olympians. I love that kids are getting to know who she is. All the stars for the daughter of Astarte!

Another score for Uncle Rick

I’m definitely going to read this again like 46 times! I love Gale’s backstory, and we know more about Percy’s mom! Percy is as Seaweedbrain as ever, Annabeth is still our Wisegirl, and Grover is the G-Man! I bet you’ll LOVE this book, I bet it on Hecate’s bag of candy corn and Grover’s strawberry smoothie! It’s like someone new in the Greek myths ALWAYS takes over is teachers jobs! ‫Eudora‬ is the school counselor, Hecate is the Principal, Chiron is the History Teacher.

Love Percy Jackson!

Jesse Bernstein is the best narrator for Percy. As usual, Percy’s quest does not disappoint. The inclusion of the “original three,” is perfect for those of us who have been reading Percy’s story for years. New readers will also enjoy.
