Publisher's summary
Cassie Valentine’s serenity has been disturbed. Best friend Nick Borja has found a full-time job, the first on his career path, and will no longer be working at The Poet’s Corner Bookstore. Equally worrisome is the unexpected appearance of a beautiful, blonde young woman who comes to the bookstore with a message for Cassie’s boyfriend, Michael Penfield, and the announcement that she is his girlfriend. Michael is not as reassuring about the situation as Cassie would have liked, but Michael is dealing with his own personal issues due to a tragic anniversary that he doesn’t discuss with anyone. Additionally, in a weird sort of irony, he has found himself to be haunted by a house. In the middle of all of this, friend and police detective Mark Hemmler comes to Cassie with a question regarding a fifteen-year old murder that is solved but to his mind, unresolved. None of them expects the consequence of that question, when an evil entity enters Cassie’s and Michael’s life, threatening the loving relationship they share and bent on destroying both of them. The two become entangled in a fight for their lives and soon realize that without help, this fight brings to them a deadly threat beyond anything they have ever encountered.
