Publisher's summary

Every guy knows the bro code. Thou shalt not covet thy best friend’s sister. It’s in the best friend bible.

But I’m the worst sort of sinner because when my best friend’s sister moves in next door, I want to break every code ever written. I try to keep my distance from her, but it’s easier said than done when her rambunctious little puppy takes a liking to me and keeps throwing us together.

She’s off limits, so I have to keep my paws off.

When it comes to love, everybody has hard limits. Lines that can't be crossed. Boxes that must be ticked. For the heroes and heroines in this series, there's just one limit, line, and box: "Love me, love my dog." (Or dogs!)

Join 15 of your favorite romance authors for stories that’ll tug on your heart, tickle your funny bone, and heat your ears! It’s more than puppy love for these couples; it's love at first bark!

Love at First Bark

This is a cute and short romance about Mia and Stone. Stone moves next door to Mia. Mia's dog runs to his house every chance the little dog gets. Stone and Mia are attracted to one another. Mia has a overly protective older brother Jeremy who happens to be Stone's best friend. No one knows this until they all meet up for dinner. Jeremy wants Stone to keep a eye on Mia and keep guys away from her. Stone and Mia can't stay away from each other though. When Jeremy finds them together and Stone jumps away Mia thinks Stone's feelings aren't real or serious. Mia won't see Stone anymore. It takes a accident with Trixie, the dog, to reunite Mia and Stone. Jeremy comes to accept the relationship.

Stone and Mia’s Story

At his best friend’s invitation, Stone moves to California and ends up right next door to a gorgeous woman he sees chasing her frisky puppy. Both of them feel the sizzling chemistry. Could there be a future together for the two of them? But when Jeremy invites him to his home for dinner and Stone’s beautiful woman neighbor joins them, he is shocked to find she is Jeremy’s sister! The Bro Code means she is off-limits. But her puppy Trixie really likes Stone and keeps bringing him together with Mia. Will the two grown-ups follow their hearts, help Jeremy get over it if he objects, and allow themselves to fall in love? Or will Trixie never get the two people she loves most to unite them all in a HEA?

The narrator for the audiobook version is Erika Annette. She does an okay job with the voices with good inflection, but I had hoped the male voices would be slightly different. Narration, male, female all sounded pretty much the same making it difficult to sometimes figure who is talking except by context. When the voices match up correctly, they will make it easy for the listener to get an accurate idea of what each character is like. That would help to set the mood better as well.

Stone, Mia, and Trixie

Stone (H) moves to a new house and is instantly attracted to his new neighbor, Mia (h), but their mutual attraction hits a roadblock in the form of her protective older brother, Jeremy, who also happens to be Stone's best friend. They keep running into one another, with some help from her spirited pommie, Trixie. Hot and steamy instalove quickie with minor relationship angst.

Fun Brother's Best Friend Trope

It's a fun take on the brother's best friend trope. Stone and Mia are perfect for each other and I enjoyed their story. It's got a little angst and an adorable Pomeranian to coo over! It's a bit of a slow burn compared to most of Bray's works, but it's still fun!

I liked the narrator! She was nice to listen to and did a good job with the voices.

Paws Off!

This is a short and quick read, or listen. The narrator did a really good job with the story. The story is a stand alone one and part of the multi-author "Love at First Bark" series. The story is about Mia and Stone who end up being neighbors and falling hard a fast for each other. There is one problem though, there is a bro code that neither knows exist. Stone meets Mia and instantly knows she is the one. They temporarily parts ways and then surprisingly meet at her brothers. Stone just happens to be her brothers best friend. This is a sweet and steamy read with a very protective brother who is hard to like at first. I like the characters and of course the adorable fur baby.

Delightful!

This is one of the sweetest, quirkiest novellas I've read in a long time. Stone and Jeremy are best friends from college, but now live on opposite coasts. There's nothing keeping Stone in New York, so he picks up and moves to be closer to Jeremy in California. He realizes he's living right next door to the most beautiful girl in the world when she comes running across the yard chasing after her puppy. Mia has lived under the control of her brother and because she's younger than he is, he doesn't think she's capable of making decisions or doing things for herself. Big brothers! With Stone and Mia, it's a definite case of lust at first sight, but it seems that there's a possibility of so much more. But things get complicated when Stone goes over to Jeremy's home for dinner and who should be there but Mia. How did he not put two and two together when he knew Jeremy had a little sister named Mia and voila! What do they do since Jeremy has threatened anybody who puts his hands on Mia and she and Stone have done a lot more than that. Stone makes a quick decision and hurts Mia by his actions. The story is so cute, so sensual and the perfect length to create characters with enough substance for us to feel what they feel and see what they see. I loved it! Erika Annette does a tremendous job with the narration. I like being able to tell all male and female characters apart and she succeeded with that. Her cadence and intonation gave each of the characters a unique personality.
