Acerca de esta escucha

Since the age of 21, Paul McCartney has lived one of the ultimate rock 'n' roll lives, played out on the most public of stages. Now Paul's story is told by rock music's foremost biographer, with McCartney's consent and access to family members and close friends who have never spoken on the record before.

Paul McCartney: The Life reveals the complex character behind the façade and sheds new light on his childhood - blighted by his mother's death but redeemed by the father who introduced him to music. This is the first definitive account of Paul's often troubled partnership with John Lennon, his personal trauma after the Beatles' breakup, and his subsequent struggle to get back to the top with Wings - which nearly got him murdered in Africa and brought him nine days in a Tokyo jail.

Listeners will learn about his marriage to Linda, including their much-criticized musical collaboration, and a moving account of her death. Packed with new information and critical insights, Paul McCartney: The Life will be the definitive biography of a musical legend.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"If you’re not a fan of Paul McCartney when you start this book, you will be when you’re done. Narrator Jonathan Keeble recounts McCartney's life story... It would have been criminal to have an American read Philip Norman's tell-all book. Keeble's delightful British accent makes it sound real.... Overall, McCartney comes across as a great musician, caring father, and incredible human being." (AudioFile)

Although this book is very long, there wasn’t a dull moment. I thought I knew a great deal about this incredible man, but it was wonderful to hear about the ups and downs of a life well-lived. Sir Paul’s story couldn’t have been told better, IMHO. Completely blown away by the book and quite certain u will never find another biography as entertaining as this one.

The narrator gave a 10/10 performance. I doubt I will ever forget this book. The narrator’s gift of impersonation is very impressive. This book would absolutely delight anyone who is a fan of Sir Paul because the narrator brings him to life when he reads Paul’s words. Somebody please give this narrator an award! I’m off to find another to find another book read by this narrator.

Astonishing detail and insight

Great book, though in the beginning, the book seemed to be a Beatles biography rather than one on Paul McCartney. But I guess that can't be helped. "And in the end.... it seems to be an unbiased account of our generations best song writer and the man who has kept the Beatles memory alive the past 50+ years.

Fair account

I've always been a Beatle fan and have read much about the Fab Four for many years. So I was apprehensive to attempt another reading, but decided to.

I highly recommend this book! It's humanizes Mr. McCartney and is a fantastic read or should I say listen!

Narration is also top notch with believable accents. Well done all around I was not disappointed in the least and not will you be.

This is good !!

Another Paul book but wait...

I am a casual Beatles fan and have never read or listened to any books on them and I enjoyed this immensely. It's a great biography of McCartney and history of the Beatles.

terrific

I was always a fan of Paul McCartney's (of the Beatles in general but quite specifically of Paul) and this book reaffirms how worthy of respect and admiration Sir Paul is - talented, hard working, curious and wanting to share opportunities with others.

So many fascinating glimpses into his life but I particularly delighted in reading about his years of living in the Asher household on Wimpole Street in London.

What an impressive human!

The Early years make a lot of sense. His dad's name was gentleman Jim. There was someone in his life named Rory. He was friends with Buddy Holly

Paul's loneliness

I was REALLY surprised that Paul McCartney cooperated with Philip Norman in the writing of this biography, given Norman’s decided anti-Paul slant in “Shout!” But, I’m glad that Paul reconsidered to assist/cooperate with this book. Lots of interesting stories and players fill the pages.

My only real complaint is with the choice of narrator. The man has a decidedly “posh” accent, more appropriate for someone narrating “The Times“ than a rock n roll bio. And when he at times delves into mimicking a Liverpool accent, well, that is simply awful. Outside of this major distraction in enjoying the book, I’d give it 4 stars mainly because of the subject matter (hey, it’s Paul!).

Really enjoyable but the narrator is a poor choice

I had this gem in my library for some time; 30 hours in length held me back. And in the end, those hours didn’t seem long enough . A Beatles fan for as long as I can remember, I learned so much I had never heard before. A story so well written, and a story so well told. Bravo and thank you.

Simply Amazed
