About this listen

As part of the Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures series, this edition contains exclusive bonus materials!

It seemed the perfect place to lie low. The owner of the ranch was an attractive, gray-haired lady who had once been an actress. The other woman was a beautiful, fragile-seeming blonde. They needed repairs done, and he needed to disappear for a while.

The first sign that things were not as they should be was when a Pinkerton man questioned him about a missing woman. Then he accidentally found a will belonging to the previous owner of the ranch. After that, a young lady showed up in town making claims that the place belonged to her.

Worried that his hideout was turning into a battleground, he didn’t know what would be more dangerous, staying or leaving. For a man interested only in passin’ through, he suddenly found himself entangled in a deadly struggle....

Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures is a project created to release some of the author’s more unconventional manuscripts from the family archives.

In Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures: Volume 1 and Volume 2, Beau L’Amour takes the listener on a guided tour through many of the finished and unfinished short stories, novels, and treatments that his father was never able to publish during his lifetime. L’Amour’s never-before-seen first novel, No Traveller Returns, faithfully completed for this program, is a voyage into danger and violence on the high seas.

Additionally, many beloved classics will be rereleased with an exclusive Lost Treasures postscript featuring previously unpublished material, including outlines, plot notes, and alternate drafts. These postscripts tell the story behind the stories that millions have come to know and cherish.

The Narration is what makes this a good Listen

The Story line is unique, it never names the protagonist of the story.
The hidden surprises of the plot are easy to predict.
The writing does do a good job of explaining what is going on in Passing's head.
I did enjoy this book, but have enjoyed others from the author much more than this one.

Mr. Passin’

This narrator very well captures the unique and whimsical style of my favorite Louis L’Amour novel.

the story had multiple plots, an authentic feel, poignant revelations about life.

1) The female characters NEED a female voice.
2) The reader is good, maybe even very good. I found the harsh serious cadence too consistant and therefore, a distraction from the character development. example: help the Indians, help the women, friendly with the cook. the harsh cadence at these times are contrary to the depth of the main character.

My name?

The reader brought this book to life and made it tough to put down. You’ll love the plot, character development, and positive approach of the main character

one of L'Amour's best

A fantastic story I love the character Passin Through, and Oliver Wyman read the character to perfection. I will listen to this book again with great joy and wonder.

The hint about the perfect gray hair. It was easy to guess.

it dragged a bit. He made out like he was dying one day and was up and moving the next.

Boring?? HAIL No! A Master Class In Narrating.

I have heard very, very many narrators, and this guy dazzles me. He was born to narrate this book. Each character, male or female, has a distinct voice. Each sounds authentic, as regards age, gender, and background. The pace of his reading is just right. It is like listening to a play. You will immerse into the story naturally, as you will forget he's there.

The story is a fine, solid one, with a main character you care about, and root for. L'Amour did very well with this one. I believe he was wanting to see how well he could paint word pictures, as he made the scenery and settings come alive. Don't be passin through this selection.

This is another example of Louis L’Amour wonderful writing and story telling.

I to thought that mr passing was A Sackett or a Talon some part of the family . I also enjoyed the mention of some of the Sackett and Higgins families.

Oh Yeah, That's Why I Used to Read All His Books

I was a huge L'Amour fan, read most of his books back in the 80s, then moved on. This book was a good way to come back. the story is good, the action captivating, and the interaction between characters genuine. Well worth the time, and the narrator is excellent.
