About this listen

No take-backs.

That was the motto that Drew lived by in all things, including his love life. He’s a player, pure and simple. He’s learned the hard way that women aren’t all hearts and flowers. Sometimes their sexy bodies and beautiful faces are just a pretty shield to hide the crazy, and he’s so freakin’ over crazy. Been there, done that. He has the divorce papers to prove it.

Karma hits like a bitch.

Aspen needs a break. A long one that doesn’t include anything with a Y chromosome. Not even one as tempting as her new neighbor who just moved in across the street. Men are trouble with a capital freakin’ T, and she has the ankle monitor to prove it. The last man she gave her heart to was a police officer. A man whose life was dedicated to protection; he was supposed to protect her heart - not break it. She decides right then and there that she’s done with being the better person.

Everything happens for a reason.

A rash decision - undoubtedly regrettable, undeniably unforgettable. In the heat of the moment, Aspen’s actions with a tire iron and her ex-boyfriend’s brand new SUV land him in the ER getting stitches and have her seeing the inside of a jail cell for the first time. It’s just her luck that the whole town is there to witness the result of her poor decision, including her police officer brother and the neighbor that already made it more than clear she was more trouble than she was worth. House arrest never looked so good.

Hide your crazy.

Drew enjoyed the show, though. For the first time in a year, he’s thinking about his life, and how it would be a lot more enjoyable with a woman like Aspen at his side. Maybe crazy isn’t so bad after all.

if u're not on the books by LLV u're missing out

(Drew & Aspen): TRIGGERS: cyber fraud, theft, trafficking, teen pregnancy, child abandonment, assault, stalking, pyromancer. Wow. Just, wow. I love all of the characters in LLV'S world, especially Downy "Bang Switch" from Code-11 KPD SWAT. THIS book though had me disliking Downy for the way he was towards his sister, Aspen. So that's probably the only thing I didn't like about this book. The story starts off in the cleverest of ways, Aspen is on house arrest for some less than savory things and it's when her new neighbor, Drew stops by to help her out a few times because she can't go out of range that things really heat up. Drew is a firefighter for Kilgore Fire and also a medic in the SWAT team with her brother. He's currently dealing with a teenage daughter and a divorce. The two have a connection almost immediately but it's not an insta romance. There's an actual buildup. If this were a movie, there would be a "getting to know you/friendship" montage placed here. They are both easy to talk to about each other's problems, especially the current ones Aspen is having with her ex. I loved that friendship they built and then when they turned the heat up it became an all out BLAZE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. The two can't keep their hands to themselves. Though in LLV fashion, drama and danger always follow and not always in that order. LLV threw a serious whammy of a plot twist that had my jaw on the floor and I couldn't recover for like ten minutes. 🤣🤯 Then she lets you settle in with that before BAM! ANOTHER ONE. Like she's just dropping bombs left and right into your brain and heart. It never seems to end because before you know it… the climax of the story has come for a visit and you're on the edge of your seat trying to find out what'll happen next. I was pleasantly surprised with this book and I am excited to continue with this series and the rest of them. I need a 🚬 after that and I don't even smoke. Got my nerves all bad. Damn.

WOW!!

This is the best book by Lani Lynn Vale that I've ever read and the sex scenes where so much hotter than any other she has written 🔥 Narrators are wonderful especially Jason Clark. Oh gosh, that voice is so darn sexy!!

Oxygen Deprived

Amazing, Amazing! Funny, sweet, bullheaded, they're stupidly crazy over each other. These two were made for each other, actors did really good, well done.

Lots of drama and steamy moments

Aspen is on house arrest for going all ‘Carrie Underwood’ on her ex’s car...in front of the police station no less. Then Drew moves in across the street...oh and he’s a medic w KFD. The hot newly divorced dad is interested in Aspen, in spite of her quirkiness. Lots of drama with both exes, as well as Drew’s teenage daughter. Great ending.

Wow-Drew and Aspen

This story was so entertaining. I became captivated after reading the reasons for the ankle bracelet and just became more with the Drew’s introduction. I don’t usually read firemen romance books, just took a chance on this one along with the audible version. Both are fantastic and will be on my reread/relisten list. The narrators were perfection. Highly recommend.

What is it about these stories?

The female characters in these stories come off so damn weak, smh! The guy she's sleeping with is "SURPRISE, STILL MARRIED." And now she's going on a boat ride with him?
