In my opinion, one of the greatest of the light novels. If you haven't listen to it yet or watch the anime, the first thing you should do.If you have never watched, the anime is to listen to these light novels.Second thing watch the anime

voice acting is great and fun, as always.

story is engaging and immersive. However much I enjoy the author's prose and descriptive taste, for how long these volumes are, very little actually occurs. This hits home more when you notice the pattern of getting the reader invested in someone that just gets immediately killed off.

Now, if the author's whole point is to make us think of the man who became Ainz and spineless and weak willed loser, it is of course, effective.

I still enjoy all of Ainz's scenes. I'm invested. But, his passive approach, communication issues, wildly unbalanced value of his "friends" can be irritating. Once again, if that's the point, it's great writing. But if I am supposed to empathize with him, I can only do so for interpersonal reasons. Bla. he's just irritating me. Still fun. really want more world building :)

I'm pretty sure this is the only volume in the story where you actually get to see ainz at his most honest point. Overlord is a story that features a lot of acting/ role-playing. when Ainz takes on a roll of a villain... he's not acting anymore

As always, these audiobooks are awkward if viewed objectively in that the translations are stiff and the narrator is pretty bad as he was only picked because he was the voice actor for the English dub of the anime. He is no narrator, though. Therefore, like the other books, this is pretty lame on its own. However, fans of the anime like me will find this volume to be as Informative as the others, filling in missing information from the anime and adding context to it. As such, I highly recommend it.
