About this listen
Michelle Baron should be reveling in her new life in Sandy Cove, Oregon. From the outside it all looks idyllic. A newlywed settling into a quaint coastal town, her husband establishing himself as a junior partner in a law firm - what more could she want?
But a series of disturbing nightmares haunts Michelle. Her quest to understand these dreams leads her to the New World bookstore, where she begins a spiritual journey that will challenge her Christian heritage as well as her marriage.
Captivating characters, suspenseful story lines, and thought-provoking themes - best-selling author, Rosemary Hines crafts gripping and at times poignant tales of the challenges Christians face in contemporary culture. Known for her realistic portrayal of life and her sensitivity in tackling tough topics, her novels examine the prevalence of New Age beliefs and practices in today's world, the tragedy of suicide that touches families of all walks of life, the broken system of foster care, the need for dedicated teachers to reach out to troubled students, and the heartache of infertility as well as unwanted pregnancies and abortions. Never preachy but always leading the listener to a message of hope and redemption, Rosemary is a committed follower of Christ. The novels of the Sandy Cove series - Out of a Dream, Through the Tears, and Into Magnolia - convey profound Christian messages that touch hearts of believers and nonbelievers alike. Refreshingly honest and true to life, the characters resonate with readers and become their friends, and the story lines transition seamlessly from one novel to the next.

Great Christian fiction with a very real message!
What did you love best about Out of a Dream?
Though it is a fictional story, the message of hope and deliverance are very real! Rosemary does a wonderful job of creating real life characters and situations, and developing them into a believable, engrossing story. For anyone looking for answers to questions about "new age" philosophies, this is an excellent resource to read and/or pass on.
I have read all the books so far in this series and was so delighted to be able to listen to the audio version. The reader did a great job!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Out of a Dream?
When Michelle finds the truth that she has been searching for for most of her life.
Have you listened to any of Becky Doughty’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but this one was excellent!
If you could take any character from Out of a Dream out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would be Michelle's grandfather...I would love to hear him tell this story from his "bbehind the scenes" view of prayers, hearing God's voice and seeing the answers come.

Wonderful story
This book has such a beautiful message. It shows that the new age way of thinking , that is permitting society even today, is so easily taught and believed by so many. Even in the church it can sound like a great idea. Sustain yourself, you are able to be in control of your life and situation. You are strong. Not that we are all sinners and need to rely on Gods strength not our own. Thank you for the message of salvation, Rosemary. God bless you.

Could have been better
What did you like best about Out of a Dream? What did you like least?
The story line was sort of predictable but worse than that was the narrator... I REALLY wanted to like it and enjoy the story but I was just not feeling the narrators voice. I actually listened to the entire book but was tempted to just stop it and return it several times.
Would you be willing to try another book from Rosemary Hines? Why or why not?
Rosemary Hines maybe so, the story line was good enough to keep me listening even though I had to endure the narrators voice.
Would you be willing to try another one of Becky Doughty’s performances?
No. I'll leave it at that because I don't want to be too mean; after all, I am a Christian.
Was Out of a Dream worth the listening time?
I liked the message it delivered.
Any additional comments?

Ends too abruptly
Good concept for this book as New Age thinking is so prevalent. The author does reveal that she has first hand knowledge of the allure of this movement. Unfortunately, this book ends very abruptly leaving a lot of loose ends. As it turns out the story continues in the next book. This narrator is okay, but reads like her audience is kindergarteners.

Inspiring Tale
If you could sum up Out of a Dream in three words, what would they be?
God Loves You.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character in this book was Steve, the main character's husband. He was patient with his bride, ambitious, and considerate of others--what some might call a perfect husband.
What does Becky Doughty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Becky Doughty brings a humanity to this book that makes one continue to listen with anticipation to find out what happens next.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The book made me tear up when discussing the problems from failed suicide attempts.
Any additional comments?
It was wonderful to read a Christian book which reinforced God's watchcare over all His Children.

I'll be listening again
What did you love best about Out of a Dream?
I love how Hines understands what she is talking about. She has experimented with some of the New Age ideology and she has found that only Jesus can lead people to God and free us from bondage.
What did you like best about this story?
Rosemary Hines’ audio book Out of a Dream is a beautiful story of a woman’s (Michelle Baron) journey to make meaning of disturbing dreams. Hines description of complex characters comes to life in this thought provoking book. Newlywed Michelle just moved to a new state, leaving behind her family and friends. After having several scary dreams about the people she loves she seeks out their meaning through the New Age movement. Her search for meaning makes her aware of spiritual things. Through a family crisis Michelle is led to the truth. Only God is the solution.
Which character – as performed by Becky Doughty – was your favorite?
Narrator Becky Doughty does a wonderful job of narrating for each character. I love how she is able to easily read both male and female characters quotes.
Who was the most memorable character of Out of a Dream and why?
Grandpa is a wonderful example of a Godly man. He gives his daughter and granddaughter sound biblical advice during hard times.
Any additional comments?
This audio book comes to life as Becky Doughty reads Out of a Dream. It is perfect for a busy mom who does not always find the time to sit down and read a book. It is great for anyone who has a hard time sitting long enough to read a book. I will be listening to this audio book again.
