Focuses heavily on equipment & pro trainers

This book really disappointed me as I was looking forward to this from the blurb and the sample. But the author is sadly tone deaf to listeners on a fixed budget who are without access to big city gyms and all those expensive professionals and medical consultations. Brace yourself for the extended discussion on why a $2k recumbent exercise bike is a good long term investment and the repetitive advice to seek the assistance of a professional that turn the first two chapters into infuriatingly useless info for this fixed-income listener.

I'm sure this is great for big city listeners not on fixed incomes who live with quick access to fitness facilities and trainers to work on their form. But for those of us who can't afford the hour on the road to get to a big city YMCA, much less room in our budget to pay the monthly tab, this is entirely too dependent on access to equipment beyond the reach of rural and/or low income listeners. I wonder if the good doctor would be as enamored of expensive equipment over walking if he had to give up a month's income or his sole source of transportation to pay for it?

The information is pretty much what anyone not aware enough to pay attention to their primary care (assuming you still have access to one) needs to hear and I'll definitely be paying attention to my larger muscle groups as soon as my surgeon clears it. If you can afford and have access to all the equipment and trainers the doctor recommends, this is probably a good resource. But for those of us out walking because it's FREE, the first two chapters of this book are singularly tone deaf to the lower incomes and lack of resources of listeners outside big cities and professional circles. His advice to avoid outdoor activity due to the risks of pollution is sad for those of us who find sunshine and fresh air to be one resource still freely available where we live.

I'm sorry to have to give such a disappointed review as "I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator."

Excellent information for eating right

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone.

Any additional comments?

The book goes into detail about how to eat right. This is not just a diet but a way to change your life through eating healthy. I don't need to lose 30 pounds but this is good for everyone who wants to eat well and improve the health of your body. Very well writtten. The only thing that would make this audiobook better would be a pdf that is printable to take with me to the grocery store. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher- thank you!

Probably THE Best Book I've Listened to On Health

Wow! Orangutan Butt-Burn Diet is the best audiobook, book, etc. that I've ever listened to or read on diet and health. This is a must listen for everyone and especially anyone in my age group (somewhere in the middle). Dr. Manolakas tells it like it is and keeps it interesting and real. The underlying key is MINDFULNESS. More doctors should incorporate this into the overall health plan for their patients and I know they do not.

This book is right on target with diet and exercise as well as cholesterol, hypertension, stroke, anxiety, and stress. I have mobility issues which greatly limits my exercise but I know from the past when I was more active that these are great tips and tweaks. The soup he teaches you how to make sounds divine and I'll be making it. I loved the chapter on 'keep it simple stupid'. It is so true. This is a gem of an audiobook.

Scott Larson's narration made this already awesome book an excellent listen. His voice inflections were fun. He was THE perfect reader for this audiobook.

Effective and Humorous 😊

My goal is not to loose weight as much as maintain my current weight.
My husband on the other hand is using these tips to loose weight.
The advice in this book is working for both of us.

when you get tired of books that give conflicting tips with ineffective advice give this one a try.
Not only is this book effective but the author donates some of the proceeds to end the extinction of orangutans.

Unlike other boring work out books this one takes a humorous approach.
This was helpful in holding my interest.
The narration was well done.
Scott Larson has his comedic timing down.

I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
My honest opinion is... this book is worth listening to.
I hope this review was helpful and you enjoy listening to it as much as I did.

Funny name, great book!

OK, so the name of the book is a bit weird, but there actually is a point to it and this book is packed with quality information on exercise for weight loss and eating for weight loss and health in general.

The plan in this book is easy to follow and the diet will probably cost you far less than what you spend on food at the moment.

I particularly liked the information on sleep apnea, I'm have it and this book contains information my sleep specialist has never spoken to me about, and I wish he had.

While this book focuses on people with 20-60 pounds to lose it's useful for people just looking to eat better and people with even more to lose.

The narration is vibrant, upbeat, and easy to listen to.

Watered-Down Logic to Diet and Exercise

What made the experience of listening to Orangutan Butt-Burn Diet the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the narration of this audiobook and the fast-paced presentation of this author’s perspective of diet and exercise.

Have you listened to any of Scott Larson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard of any of Scott Larson's performances, but I enjoyed this book. This narrator is even understandable when you pick up the speed to 1.25 or 1.50x.

Any additional comments?

Since the author is a medical physician the information regarding diet and exercise is honest. I did appreciate the honesty by the author regarding the timeframe for increased fitness. This is not an ordinary gimmick fitness and diet book.

I enjoyed the explanation of the best exercises and the cooking tips for having a healthy vegetable filled meal. The author however has clear trepidations of having anyone follow his plan without seeking medical advice and googling additional information. I thought the repeated reference to “googling” underwhelming.

I suggest this book to anyone who wants an elementary starting point of getting into fitness.

Good Practical Information

I liked this book, (so much so that I bought the Kindal version as resource), Weird title but good solid advice. It was worth the time and effort. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
