About this listen
Commander John Reese is surrounded by those he cannot trust. The Agency wants the young female vampires recovered at any cost or he will spend his remaining years in Fort Leavenworth prison if he is lucky. If the military finds out that the original Team of Darkness vampires are not dead, as Reese told them, it's Leavenworth for him again. Further, if the vampire Dimitri believes that he had anything to do with the girls being placed into captivity then Reese may end up dead in a very slow and painful way. Yet the outcome of any of these secrets is not what Commander John Reese fears the most.
Secrets. John Reese is not the only one keeping them. General Stone had additional vampires that no one knew about until it was too late. But what Stone did not know until she killed him was the Agency secret: their own vampire assassin. Meanwhile, Samantha from the Agency has her own ideas about the continued use of the vampires including her assassin Christina. Christina is also on a collision course with the secrets of her own past, and her relationship with Reese is going in a direction that neither of them knows where it will lead. Yet to stay alive it is no secret what Reese must do. He must stay one step ahead of the Agency, the military, and Dimitri and the other Team of Darkness vampires. Yet even if he avoids being caught in one of his own lies or perhaps making a mistake that compromises his own position, Reese will still have to face the greatest battle of his life. He must face his own deepest fear and make a decision that will change him and possibly humanity forever.
